Honda Super-ONE compact EV prototype debuts at JMS 2025. Features include Boost Mode, simulated gear shifts, and target production in Japan (2026) and Asian markets.
Honda, the Japanese car maker, has brought forth the Super-ONE Prototype, a conceptual electric vehicle that has a compact size, which is expected to make daily commuting less tiresome. The prototype was shown to the world during the Japan Mobility Show 2025 (JMS 2025), and the production of the model will begin in 2026 in Japan, with the possible release in the UK and some Asian markets (India is among the shortlisted ones) taking place afterwards.
The EV is designed to be very light and is based on a platform that is developed for the Honda N-series of compact cars. The small electric car Super-ONE highlights the sporty driving character by using sensory-led features to enhance the excitement, which is distinctive for small electric cars.
Compact EV Platform
The Honda Super-ONE Prototype is a compact electric car designed to make city driving more fun and exciting —a rare trait among EVs. It’s based on Honda’s lightweight N-Series platform, known for its agility and efficiency. The Super-ONE’s Boost Mode is a standout feature, briefly increasing power for faster acceleration. This mode also improves the driver’s sensory experience by engaging sight, sound, and touch, resulting in a sportier and more immersive driving feel.
Ground-breaking technologies
The Super-ONE prototype is equipped with two ground-breaking technologies:
- Simulated Seven-Speed Transmission: This system’s goal is to give the driver the feeling of a shift being performed, providing the tactile feedback expected by drivers of traditional sporty vehicles.
- Active Sound Control: This technology works hand in hand with the gear shift simulation to create a loud, engine-like noise in the cabin that changes with accelerator and brake inputs in real-time.
Focused Interior Design
The Super-ONE’s interior is basic but driver-focused. The instruments are arranged horizontally to make the driver’s view clean. It includes racing-style seats to keep passengers safe during fast driving. The interior also includes multiple colours and materials, as well as a triple-gauge cluster that emphasises the sporty vibe when Boost Mode is activated.
Production Timeline
Honda has announced that the Super-ONE model will go into production and will be launched in Japan in 2026. After the Japan launch, the company intends to introduce the model in other markets where there is a high demand for compact EVs, such as the UK and some other Asian countries. This indicates that India is a very strong and potential market for this newly made small electric car that will be fun and engaging.
