JSW MG Motor India’s luxury retail channel, MG SELECT, has taken the wraps off its new Couture Editions. Offering custom artistic renditions of the flagship M9 electric luxury car and Cyberster electric sports car, the exclusive models are designed by the fashion designer Gaurav Gupta. Launched during Gupta’s new ‘Light Song’ collection in Mumbai, these cars are specially for those who want something extra from their luxury car.
Design and Bespoke Craftsmanship

Whereas most special editions are simply about changing colours, the Couture Editions take inspiration from haute couture. Both the Cyberster and the M9 have their own bespoke design elements based on the famous Serpent Infinity design of Gaurav Gupta. The exterior and interior of the vehicles incorporate embroidery-inspired detailing, layered textures, and hand-finished elements that mirror the aesthetic of the designer’s runway collections.
The collaboration builds on an earlier project from this year, where MG SELECT displayed a customised Cyberster at the opening of Gupta’s menswear store in New Delhi. The new Couture Editions evolve that initial creative exercise into two production-ready, collector-focused vehicles.
Powertrain and Performance Context
While the Couture Editions bring a high level of visual exclusivity, they do not introduce any mechanical changes over the standard models.
- MG Cyberster: The standard electric roadster packs a 77 kWh battery and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup. It produces 503 bhp and 725 Nm of torque, enabling the convertible to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in a rapid 3.2 seconds.
- MG M9: Positioned as a luxury electric MPV or “limousine”, the M9 focuses heavily on passenger comfort, space, and a premium cabin experience, serving as MG’s flagship people mover in the luxury segment.
Availability and Booking Details
Exclusivity is the defining factor for these models. MG SELECT has confirmed that only 50 examples of the Cyberster Couture Edition and 50 examples of the M9 Couture Edition will be manufactured for the Indian market. Pre-reservations are currently open exclusively through the MG SELECT retail network. While the standard Cyberster and M9 are priced at approximately Rs 82.49 lakh and Rs 79.94 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively, the official pricing for these limited-run Couture Editions will be revealed on August 3.
