Intro
BYD has now tweaked the variant lineup of its electric family MPV, the eMax 7, to offer buyers a more flexible middle ground. Recognising that many buyers want extended driving range without necessarily paying for top-tier luxury features or extra performance, the brand has launched the new mid-spec ‘Comfort’ trim. Sitting squarely between the entry-level Premium and the fully loaded Superior variants, the Comfort trim delivers long-distance practicality at a more accessible price.
BYD eMax 7 Variant-Wise Pricing
The eMax 7 is now available in six variants across 6-seater and 7-seater layouts. Here is how the complete pricing structure looks:
| Variant | Battery Capacity | Power Output | Price (Ex-Showroom) |
| Premium 6-Seater | 55.4 kWh | 120 kW (161 bhp) | Rs 26.90 Lakh |
| Premium 7-Seater | 55.4 kWh | 120 kW (161 bhp) | Rs 27.50 Lakh |
| Comfort 6-Seater | 71.8 kWh | 120 kW (161 bhp) | Rs 27.90 Lakh |
| Comfort 7-Seater | 71.8 kWh | 120 kW (161 bhp) | Rs 28.30 Lakh |
| Superior 6-Seater | 71.8 kWh | 150 kW (201 bhp) | Rs 29.30 Lakh |
| Superior 7-Seater | 71.8 kWh | 150 kW (201 bhp) | Rs 29.90 Lakh |
The ‘Comfort’ Proposition: Battery and Powertrain
The strategy behind the Comfort variant is straightforward: pair the base model’s feature list and motor with the top model’s battery.
The new Comfort variant gets the larger 71.8 kWh Blade battery, which is also found in the top-spec Superior trim. However, it does not get the power bump. The Comfort trim retains the front-axle-mounted electric motor from the base variant, producing 120 kW (161 bhp) and 310 Nm of torque (compared to the Superior’s 201 bhp output).
This specific combination of a larger battery and a slightly lower-output motor allows the eMax 7 Comfort to deliver a claimed MIDC range of 485 km on a single charge. When it is time to plug in, the variant supports AC charging up to 7 kW and DC fast charging speeds up to 115 kW.
Features: What It Gets and What It Misses
Because the Comfort trim is essentially a battery upgrade for the base model, its equipment list mirrors that of the entry-level Premium variant. Buyers still get a very well-equipped cabin with features like:
- All-LED lighting
- Dynamic rear turn signals
- Power-adjustable and folding wing mirrors
- Keyless entry
- 12.8-inch rotatable touchscreen infotainment system
- Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration
- 5-inch TFT instrument display,
- 6-way manually adjustable driver’s seat
- Faux leather upholstery
- Automatic climate control.
- 6 airbags
- A 360-degree surround-view camera
- Traction control and ABS with ESC
- Tire pressure monitoring
- Electronic parking brake with auto-hold
To keep the price in check, the Comfort variant misses out on the flagship features reserved exclusively for the Superior trim, such as Level 2 ADAS features, a panoramic glass roof, ventilated front seats, and powered adjustments for the front passenger seat.
