Tata Sierra EV Variants Explained: Check Out Which Variants Suits You The Best

      Tata Sierra EV Variants

The Tata Sierra EV represents the return of one of India’s most recognised automotive nameplates, but now for the electric era. Coming after less than an year of the ICE variant’s launch, the Sierra EV is built from the ground up on the dedicated acti.ev+ architecture.

Tata has thrown everything but the kitchen sink towards the all-new Sierra EV, whether it is the list of equipment, tech, or powertrain configurations. It borrows nearly the identical battery and motor setup from the Harrier EV, including a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive option, while essentially undercutting it in price.

Since the Sierra EV operates in a tight bracket in the Tata EV portfolio, slotting between the Harrier EV and the Curvv EV. Coupled with the plethora of features you get with each variant, it becomes increasingly difficult to choose the right variant for yourself.

Let’s break down the variant lineup of the Tata Sierra EV in detail, highlighting powertrain differences as well as feature variations, and help you decide which one is ideal for you.

Tata Sierra EV Variants and Pricing in India

The Sierra EV is available across four distinct choices: Pure, Pure S, Adventure, and Empowered. These choices are distributed across two battery options and two drivetrain setups, with deliveries open and scheduled to begin on July 15, 2026.

Variant Battery Capacity Claimed Range Price (Ex-Showroom)
Pure 63 kWh 535 km Rs 18.79 Lakh
      Pure S 63 kWh 535 km Rs 19.99 Lakh
Adventure 63 kWh 535 km Rs 20.99 Lakh
Adventure 75 kWh 665 km Rs 22.19 Lakh
Empowered 63 kWh 535 km Rs 22.79 Lakh
Empowered 75 kWh 665 km Rs 23.79 Lakh
      Empowered A 75 kWh 665 km Rs 24.79 Lakh
Empowered A with QWD 75 kWh 624 km Rs 25.99 Lakh

Do note that if you get the 7.2 kW AC Fast Charger, you’ll have to pay Rs 49,000 extra over the ex-showroom price of the car.

Tata Sierra EV: Range & Performance Figures

The mechanical setups deliver linear performance across both front-wheel and rear-wheel-drive configurations. The standard layout utilises a rear-wheel-drive motor, while the top-spec variant introduces a dual-motor setup that adds an induction motor to the front axle for electronic all-wheel traction.

Tata Sierra EV vs Rivals: Pricing and Spec Analysis

The premium mid-size EV space is expanding quickly. To see where the Sierra EV fits, here is how its core specifications stack up against upcoming and recently launched competitors in the Rs 20–30 lakh price segment.

Metric Tata Sierra EV Mahindra XEV 9e Mahindra BE 6 Maruti Suzuki e Vitara
      Battery Sizes 63 / 75 kWh 59 / 79 kWh 59 / 79 kWh 49 / 61 kWh

Drive Setup RWD / QWD RWD Only RWD Only FWD
Starting Price Rs 18.79 Lakh Rs 21.90 Lakh Rs 18.90 Lakh Rs 17.79 Lakh (Larger 61 kWh battery variant)

Tata Sierra EV Pros and Cons

      • Pros: Highly competitive starting price for a 63 kWh battery; exceptional real-world highway range stretching past 500 km on the larger pack; dual-motor QWD setup with 504 Nm of torque; unique voice-activated DrivePay system; lifetime battery warranty for the initial owner.
      • Cons: Slower peak DC fast-charging limits compared to born-electric platforms; boxy rear clamshell styling can limit vertical layout options for irregular cargo items.

Which Sierra EV Variant is Best for You?

Choosing the correct configuration comes down to matching your budget with your expected weekly driving distance:

      1. The Budget-Conscious Long-Distance Commuter: If your primary focus is on extraction of maximum range for highway runs without paying a massive luxury premium, the Adventure 75 kWh variant is highly practical. It delivers a dependable 510–530 km real-world range, incorporates the 12-speaker JBL Dolby Atmos audio setup, and includes integrated MAPPLS navigation.
      2. The Tech and Luxury Seeker: For those seeking a chauffeur experience or the ultimate tech experience in the cabin, the best choice would be the Empowered 75 kWh model. The triple-screen design, ventilation of the seats, and the gesture-controlled tailgate make this upgrade well justified from the perspective of comfort.
      3. The Performance and All-Weather Explorer: For customers driving in rough conditions or requiring maximum acceleration, the top-of-the-line Empowered A with QWD is the only choice. This model will provide ultimate performance and functionality.
