- The new Model Y L is on display
- Tesla also commenced its after-sales and service operations
Tesla India has opened a new experience centre in Bengaluru, Karnataka, the fourth in the country, alongside Delhi, Mumbai, and Gurugram. The new facility is located in Whitefield at VR Bengaluru Mall.
The Bengaluru showcases both the standard Tesla Model Y, and the newly launched Tesla Model Y L, a larger six-seater variant of the premium electric SUV. The brand also said that customers can now experience the vehicles directly at the new facility starting May 14, 2026.
The Model Y L is currently the centre of attraction at the new facility. Priced from Rs 61.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the SUV gets a three-row layout with six seats and is focused heavily on practicality, comfort, and long-distance usability. The Tesla Model Y L offers a WLTP-certified range of up to 681km and can accelerate from 0-100kmph in just 5 seconds.
Compared to the standard Tesla Model Y, which starts at Rs 58.89 lakh, the Model Y L features a longer body and wheelbase to accommodate the third row. The new Tesla SUV also gets captain seats in the second row for utmost comfort, additional charging ports, more boot space, and better comfort features. Globally, the Tesla Model Y L is marketed as a more premium and family-focused alternative within Tesla’s line-up.
The brand has also announced the commencement of after-sales and service operations alongside the dealership in Bengaluru. And, this is a good thing, as service centre infrastructure has been one of the major challenges the brand has been facing in India. This shows the brand’s intent on building trust among customers by not focusing on retail operations, but also on a better service experience. And, this new facility in Bengaluru makes a lot of sense, as it is one of the cities with the best EV adoption rates, and should naturally fit into the brand’s growth strategy.
Our Opinion
Tesla’s expansion also comes at a time when the premium EV market in India is steadily booming. Luxury segment buyers are now looking beyond range and paying more attention to charging ecosystems, futuristic technology, connected features, and the overall ownership experience a brand provides — areas where Tesla has traditionally been strong.
