Tata Motors has outlined its next phase of electric car launches for India, with three important models confirmed for 2026. This announcement comes at a time when the company has surpassed 2.5 lakh electric car sales in the country, firmly maintaining its position at the top of India’s EV market.
The roadmap includes the return of the Sierra as an electric SUV, an update for the Punch EV, and the launch of the Avinya EV, which will sit at the premium end of Tata’s electric range.
Sierra EV Return
The Tata Sierra EV will bring back a well-known nameplate in an all-electric form. It is expected to be based on Tata’s Acti.ev platform, which has been developed specifically for electric vehicles.
The Sierra EV is likely to offer more than one battery option, with a claimed driving range of up to about 500 km. Reports also suggest that an all-wheel-drive version could be part of the lineup. Pricing is expected to start at around ₹15 lakh, placing it in the mid-size electric SUV category.

Punch EV Changes
The Tata Punch EV will receive a routine update in 2026. This update is expected to focus on design tweaks, small feature additions, and possible improvements inside the cabin. No major changes to the powertrain have been announced so far. The update is mainly meant to keep the Punch EV fresh and competitive in the entry-level electric car space.

Avinya EV Entry
Tata will also introduce the Tata Avinya, marking its move into higher-priced electric cars. The Avinya EVs will sit above current Tata EVs and are aimed at customers looking for more space, newer technology, and a cleaner design approach. The Avinya concept has already shown a simple interior layout with large digital screens and new lighting elements. This model is expected to play a key role in Tata’s premium EV plans.

Sales Milestone
Tata Motors has now crossed 2.5 lakh electric car sales in India. A big part of that number comes from the Nexon EV, which has remained the brand’s strongest seller in the segment. Hitting this level early has also helped Tata put a wider service and charging network in place, something many newer EV brands are still working to catch up with.
What’s Next
After the models planned for 2026, Tata Motors intends to add more electric cars by FY2030. These will be spread across different body styles and price brackets. The company is also continuing to expand charging access and after-sales support as electric vehicles become more common on Indian roads.
