Maserati, an Italian automaker, has debuted the all-electric Grecale Folgore SUV in India. Starting at ₹1.89 crore (ex-showroom), this is the brand’s first fully electric model in the country, combining Italian craftsmanship with cutting-edge EV technology. The Grecale Folgore, which bears the ‘Folgore’ (Italian for lightning) logo, joins Maserati’s expanding worldwide electric vehicle lineup. In India, it competes with the petrol-powered Grecale variants—GT, Modena, and Trofeo—but stands out for its all-electric motor and more refined styling.
Performance and Powertrain
The SUV is powered by a 105 kWh battery pack and two electric motors that provide 550 hp and 820 Nm of torque. Power is distributed to all four wheels, allowing the Grecale Folgore EV to reach 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds.
Despite its 2.4-tonne weight, Maserati claims remarkable agility, reaching a high speed of 220 km/h. The SUV gets a claimed range of up to 501 kilometres on a full charge and supports 22 kW AC and 150 kW DC fast charging options.
Design and Interior Highlights
Visually, the Folgore retains the Grecale’s sculptural form while adding distinctive electric-specific features. Bronze-finished brake callipers, a revised grille, and sporty alloy wheels are exclusive to the electric version.
Inside, it’s a blend of elegance and digital sophistication, and the cabin has three displays: a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch centre infotainment screen, and an 8.8-inch control panel. Buyers can select from 16 interior colour themes and 24 exterior colour options. Premium features include a 1,285 W Sonus Faber audio system with 21 speakers, ambient lighting, and a panoramic sunroof.
Market Position, Rivals, & Availability
The Grecale Folgore competes with the BMW iX, Audi Q8 e-tron, and Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV, aimed at affluent buyers looking for an EV that combines luxury and performance. Its price is slightly lower than Maserati’s top petrol counterpart, making it appealing to enthusiasts looking to switch to electric mobility without sacrificing exclusivity. Bookings for the Grecale Folgore are currently open at Maserati India outlets. Deliveries are expected to commence in the coming months, depending on customisation and location.
