      • VinFast VF MPV 7 vs Rivals: Which Three-Row Electric Car is For You?

Vinfast has officially launched its  three-row electric MPV in the Indian market today at a price of  ₹24.49 lakh. This places it in competition with rivals including the Kia Carens Clavis EV, BYD eMax 7, and the recently launched XEV 9S.

This ₹25 lakh electric family car category is an important segment for the modern Indian family looking to make the electric switch, without compromising on space, features, and long range.

How does the newly launched Vietnamese people-mover stack up against established luxury, proven battery tech, and rugged domestic muscle? Here is a definitive, variant-to-variant competitor analysis of the most crucial three-row EVs on the market today.

The ₹25 Lakh Bracket: Spec-to-Spec Overview

To ensure a level playing field, we are comparing the newly launched VinFast VF MPV 7 against the specific variants of its rivals that sit perfectly in the ₹24.45 lakh to ₹27 lakh bracket.

VinFast VF MPV 7 vs. Kia Carens Clavis EV: The Battle of Space vs. Lavishness

Priced identically at ₹24.49 lakh, the VF MPV 7 and the Carens Clavis EV HTX Plus ER target two very different mindsets.

The VinFast dominates in terms of space and practicality with a larger footprint. The MPV 7 has a sprawling 2,840 mm wheelbase (60 mm longer than the Kia) and a larger 60.13 kWh battery, making it a more logical family hauler. It delivers a longer 517 km range compared to Kia’s 490 km, and that coupled with VinFast’s 75% assured buyback and 10-year battery warranty offer makes it a good purchase.

However, most Indian buyers think beyond the utilitarian mindset. When spending nearly ₹25 lakhs, regardless if it’s an EV or ICE, they expect a certain level of premiumness. This is where the Carens Clavis EV delivers. For someone who doesn’t require extreme long-range numbers but wants to feel pampered during city commutes, the Kia is the undisputed king. It offers a sense of occasion, with its smart cabin design, and added niceties including, a panoramic sunroof, and ambient lighting.

VinFast VF MPV 7 vs. Mahindra XEV 9S: Hard to Beat Mahindra’s Value Proposition

While the VinFast VF MPV 7 has a more adult-friendly third row space thanks to its longer length, the Mahindra XEV 9S (Pack Two Above 70kWh variant) is an unbeatable option for buyers in the ₹25 lakh price range.

It has the largest battery pack in the class helping an ARAI claimed range of 600 km, alongside a massive sales and service network. Moreover, despite being the middle variant, the XEV 9S is absolutely loaded with features. Triple screen display, panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, 16-speaker harmon kardon sound system, dual zone climate control, level 2 adas, 360 degree camera, and more; mind you, the VF MPV 7 has none of these mentioned features.

Combined with a rear-wheel-drive setup that pushes out 180kW and 380 Nm of torque, the Mahindra feels more powerful to drive. And then there’s the conventional SUV shape which Indian buyers can’t seem to get over, along with the 15-year battery warranty.

VinFast VF MPV 7 vs. BYD eMax 7: Value vs Tech

To cross-shop the BYD eMax 7, buyers must stretch their budget to ₹26.90 lakh for the base Premium trim.

The BYD justifies its premium through its globally renowned Blade Battery technology and incredibly refined ride quality. Even in its base trim, the eMax 7 offers a luxurious feel, a signature rotating touchscreen, and a slightly higher seating position.

However, at over ₹2.4 lakh cheaper, the VinFast VF MPV 7 makes a compelling case for value. Despite a lower price, the VinFast offers a larger battery (60.13 kWh vs. BYD’s 55.4 kWh), a longer range, and significantly more power (150 kW vs. 120 kW).

VinFast VF MPV 7 vs Rivals: Which Three-Row Electric Car is For You?

The VinFast VF MPV 7 is best for buyers who prioritise massive interior space, while they are fine with compromising on bells and whistles. For everyone else, we recommend looking at the Mahindra XEV 9S with its outstanding value for money combination of features, space, and specs. If you prefer something more city-friendly and with a more affordable upfront cost, the Kia Carens Clavis EV is a solid choice.
