Kia Syros EV Launched In India At Rs 13.49 Lakh; Offers Up To 526km Range

Kia has launched the Syros EV in India. It’s the most affordable EV in the brand’s India lineup and is available in seven variants: HTK, HTK+, HTX, HTK+ ER, HTX ER, HTX+ ER, and the top-spec X-Line ER. The prices start from Rs 13.49 lakh and go all the way up to 19.99 lakh for the top-spec variant.

 It is available in nine colour schemes: Glacier White Pearl, Frost Blue, Gravity Grey, Pewter Olive, Magma Red, Ivory Silver Matte, Ivory Silver Gloss, Aurora Black Pearl, and Xclusive Matte Graphite (Exclusive to X-Line). Buyers can also opt for Kia’s new Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model, which lowers the upfront cost to Rs 7.99 lakh (a mid-size SUV for the Tata Tiago EV’s price – impressive!), while charging Rs 3.3 per kilometre for battery usage.

Kia Syros EV Battery, Performance And Range

The Kia Syros EV is available in two battery pack options: 42 kWh and a 52 kWh (51.4 kWh) battery pack. The 42 kWh battery has a 443 km claimed driving range, while the larger 51.4 kWh battery’s claimed range is 526 km. Depending on the battery pack, the electric motor produces either 99 kW or 135 kW. The peak torque is 255 Nm, same in both battery trims. It also supports 100 kW DC fast charging, which can juice it up from 10-80% in around 39 minutes under ideal conditions.

What We Think About The Kia Syros EV

With prices starting at Rs 13.49 lakh, the Kia Syros EV enters the compact electric SUV segment with a very strong value proposition. While it commands a slight premium over some of its rivals, it counters with a very wide, extensive feature list, excellent claimed range, premium rear-seat comfort, and the flexibility of a Battery-as-a-Service ownership model which brings the price down to just Rs 7.99 lakh. 

This is quite close to the Tata Tiago EV, which was launched last month for 6.99 lakh (outright). So, you get a large mid-size SUV for the outright price of an electric city car, which speaks for its value for money and accessibility itself.
