Komaki just launched two new electric scooters in India, namely the Komaki MG Pro V and the MG Pro Plus. The former costs Rs 73,999, while the latter will burn a Rs 79,999 hole in your pocket. Both of these scooters come with a similar design but get metal body panels, which is a rarity in this particular price bracket. These electric scooters are available in four colour schemes: Black, Frost White, Garnet Red, and Metal Grey.
The biggest talking point about these new Komakis isn’t the range or the performance or the features — it’s the all-metal body construction. While most electric scooters in this price segment use fibre body panels, the brand says the MG Pro twins have been designed with metal panels to improve durability and withstand daily use.
Two Variants, Different Battery Packs
Both scooters are powered by a BLDC hub electric motor, although the brand hasn’t officially disclosed the motor’s output yet.
Where the difference lies is the battery packs:
- MG Pro V: 2.2 kWh LiFePO4 battery
- MG Pro+: 2.7 kWh LiFePO4 battery
The claimed range of the MG Pro V is around 100 km, while the MG Pro+ can travel over 150 km on a single charge. Both scooters have a claimed top speed of around 60 kmph and require approximately four hours for a full charge.
Built For Everyday Commuting
Apart from the metal body, the MG Pro twins feature practical underpinnings aimed at urban riders. The scooters roll on a 12-inch front wheel and a 10-inch rear wheel, suspended by telescopic front forks and twin rear shock absorbers. Braking duties are handled by a front disc brake and a rear drum brake. Interesting thing about the scooter is that the front disc is quite aesthetic and looks like something out of a boutique rather than a factory. We think all of this makes it a perfect commuter, and
Affordable Yet Feature-Packed
Komaki has equipped both scooters with a decent list of convenience features, including the following:
- Fully digital instrument console
- Mobile app connectivity
- Battery health monitoring
- Range monitoring
- Keyless start
- Anti-theft lock
- Parking assist
- LED lighting
- Spacious floorboard
- Under-seat storage
All of these features give the MG Pro twins immense value for money.
Warranty
Komaki offers a 3-year or 30,000 km warranty (whichever is earlier) on both the battery pack and the motor-controller unit of these new scooters. And we think this will translate to a much more hassle-free ownership experience and give owners peace of mind.
Our Take
Rather than chasing outright performance, Komaki is focusing on durability and practicality with the MG Pro V and MG Pro+. An all-metal body, LiFePO4 batteries, practical features, and pricing under Rs 80,000 make the scooters quite an interesting proposition for budget-conscious buyers. These are the perfect picks for people looking for a dependable everyday electric scooter. Whether the claimed range and build quality translate into a better ownership experience, however, will only become clear once the scooters hit Indian roads.
