- New ZR-V teased ahead of India launch
- Expected to be a fully-imported CBU model
- Likely get a strong hybrid (e: HEV) powertrain
Honda Cars India has officially teased a new premium hybrid SUV on their social media handle. The new hybrid SUV is most likely the ZR-V e: HEV, with the launch scheduled for May 22, 2026. It will likely be the most premium SUV in the segment, and is expected to be Honda’s unicorn (flagship product here).
The teaser reveals a lot of details about the car’s fascia, where you get sleek LED lighting which complements its overall shape. The new hybrid SUV, which is more of a crossover, will have an overall sporty stance. The design looks more like a premium crossover, with a coupe-like silhouette, rather than Honda’s usual boxy theme, that we saw on the Honda Elevate.
It is expected to be powered by the 2.0-litre strong hybrid petrol engine, which will be mated to an e-CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) gearbox. In the global markets, this powertrain has been used in a lot of models, and the combined output from the engine and the electric motor is about 135 kW (180 hp) of peak power and 240 Nm of peak torque.
Dimensions of the ZR-V are expected to be similar to the global variant. Here’s a detailed breakdown of the international spec’s dimensions:
| Dimension | Measurement |
| Length | 4,568 mm |
| Width | 1,840 mm |
| Height | 1,620 mm |
| Wheelbase | 2,657 mm |
| Ground Clearance | 180 mm |
| Boot Space | 390 litres |
With all of these measurements, we can conclude that the cabin space would be more than enough for 5 occupants. But it being a seven-seater, just like other SUVs in its segment, is a long shot.
The upcoming ZR-V’s features list includes a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with connected features, a 10.2-inch instrument console, a panoramic sunroof, powered seats, and dual-zone AC, among other features. It will also most likely come with ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) with a bunch of modern safety features.
Positioning, Launch And Expected Price
Honda is expected to launch the ZR-V e: HEV alongside the popular new generation Honda City on May 22, 2026. Globally, it is positioned between the HR-V, and the CR-V, and is marketed as a premium 5-seater. For India, the model will be brought in as a CBU (Completely Built Unit), which gives us a glimpse at its possible pricing, which could be somewhere between the Rs 40 lakh, and Rs 50 lakh mark. With this premium price tag, it will rival the Volkswagen Tiguan, and the Skoda Kodiaq Lounge.
