Bajaj Chetak C3501 vs Ola S1 Pro

The commuter segment is rapidly evolving, featuring premium, high-performance electric scooters for maximum efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Popular electric scooters such as the Bajaj Chetak C3501 and Ola S1 Pro are leading this charge, meeting the requirements of the modern buyer. While the S1 Pro is designed as a tech-focused, exciting scooter, the Chetak C3501 is built for durability, featuring a metal body and family use. But which is better? Let’s find out:

Bajaj Chetak C3501 vs Ola S1 Pro Performance Comparison

The performance part is where the Bajaj Chetak C3501 and Ola S1 Pro show contrasting dynamics. So, let’s see how they stack against each other in the performance department:

SpecificationsBajaj Chetak C3501Ola S1 Pro
Battery Capacity 3.5 kWh 4 kWh
Certified Driving Range 153 Km / Full Charge 242 Km / Full Charge
Charging Time (0-80% SOC)3 Hours4 hours 50 minutes
Top Speed 80 kmph 125 kmph

Bajaj Chetak C3501: This vehicle is equipped with a 3.5 kWh battery pack and a high-power electric motor, a configuration that enables the e-scooter to clock speeds of up to 80 kmph. While the high-speed performance is good, the powertrain also leans towards offering decent range output. In fact, the Chetak C3501 from Bajaj delivers 153 km / full charge of certified driving range.

As for driving performance, instead of aggressive and neck-snapping power delivery, the Bajaj Chetak C3501 offers linear or progressive power output, mimicking the throttle transition similar to a petrol-powered scooter in India. Due to these same characteristics, the Chetak C3501 is well-tuned for city stop-and-go traffic conditions, retaining high-torque performance for inclines.

Also, for a faster turnaround, the Bajaj Chetak C3501 e-scooter’s battery can be recharged from a 0 to 80 percent state of charge (SOC) using a home charger in around 3 hours. Meanwhile, adding another 1 hour and 25 minutes (to the 80 percent SOC) will offer a fully juiced-up battery.

Ola S1 Pro: This electric scooter is a performance machine designed to deliver high-power and torque dynamics. The S1 Pro is capable of delivering 11 kW of peak power, enabling the electric scooter to reach speeds of up to 125 kmph (in hyper mode). Speaking of hyper mode, accelerating from 0 to 40 kmph in the said mode takes just an astonishing 2.7 seconds. This helps in overtaking vehicles on highways quickly. Additionally, 0-60 kmph speeds can be achieved in just 4.3 seconds.

Further, featuring a larger 4 kWh battery pack in comparison to the Chetak C3501, the Ola S1 Pro is fully capable of delivering a certified driving range of 242 km on a fully charged battery. This beats the battery range performance delivered by the Chetak C3501 electric scooter. However, charging the Ola e-scooter takes longer; it takes 4 hours 50 minutes to recharge from 0 to 80 percent SOC. This means charging the Ola S1 Pro’s larger-capacity battery from 0 to 100 percent SOC using its 750 W portable charger will take much longer than the Bajaj Chetak C3501.

Bajaj Chetak C3501 vs Ola S1 Pro: Design | Build Quality | Comfort: Which Is Better?

Now that we have explored the performance capacities of these electric two-wheelers, it is time to delve into the design and quality aspects:

Chassis And Body Design Comparison:

The Bajaj Chetak C3501 is constructed around a solid architecture for durability. The vehicle utilises a full-tensile steel body. This high-strength body construction resists minor dings and looks appealing at the same time. The neo-retro styling of panels, featuring a flawless colour scheme and Italian design heritage, makes the Chetak C3501 look and feel premium.

On the other hand, the Ola S1 Pro utilises plastic/flimsy materials built around a tubular frame. While this helps it look appealing and sleek, the use of such materials means that there are panel gaps and that the fit and finish is subpar. Creaking of panels is present, and dropping the vehicle accidentally can cause severe damage to the panels, unlike the Bajaj Chetak C3501.

Ergonomics And Comfort:

The Bajaj Chetak C3501 uses a floorboard battery pack placement, resulting in a flatter and more spacious construction. The fitment of the battery pack underneath the floorboard, rather than fitting it behind the electric motor as seen in a few vehicles, helps improve balance and comfort with better vehicle stability. Speaking of comfort, the seats are also well-cushioned, ideal for city usage.

Meanwhile, the Ola S1 Pro uses a wider and adequately cushioned seat for comfort when on longer trips. However, the floorboard has a slightly central spine-like contour; this can feel uncomfortable, restricting foot movement. What about the suspension dynamics? Let’s explore:

Suspension And Ride Quality:

The Bajaj Chetak C3501 uses a single side-mounted leading link setup in the front and a monoshock at the rear. This suspension integration ensures decent ride quality, offering good vehicle stability under high-speed operations. That being said, when encountering an unexpected pothole, this setup can feel slightly on the stiffer side. Nevertheless, the suspension is optimal for urban and semi-urban operating environments.

The Ola S1 Pro gets twin telescopic forks in the front section, while the rear houses a monoshock suspension. The design of this suspension is considered better than the Chetak C3501, thanks to the capacity to absorb shocks and handle undulations quite seamlessly. Featuring the above-mentioned suspension configuration, the Ola S1 Pro delivers a plusher ride.

Storage And Practicality:

The Bajaj Chetak C3501 offers a class-leading 35 litres of boot space with an additional 5-litre glove box featuring locking functionality. This massive underseat storage makes it an ideal solution for errands and short trips across the city carrying smaller parcels or luggage. On the other hand, the Ola S1 Pro features a 34-litre underseat storage compartment – decent by all standards. However, unlike the Bajaj scooter, the S1 Pro does not feature a front glove box or luggage hooks.

Bajaj Chetak C3501 vs Ola S1 Pro: Features Integrations | Which Offers More?

In the features department, both the Bajaj Chetak C3501 and Ola S1 Pro come with a long list of elements with purpose, making these two e-scooters top-notch solutions:

Bajaj Chetak C3501 Features:

  • Google Map Navigation
  • Music Control Function
  • Document Storage On Cluster
  • Sequential Blinkers For Appeal And Safety
  • Guide Me Home Headlight
  • Auto Stop Lamp Function Under Sudden Braking
  • Remote Immobiliser System

  • Remote Boot Locking Function
  • GPS Connectivity

The Verdict: Which Is Perfect For You?

Still confused as to which electric scooter to choose? Read the following Verdict:

Choose The Baja Chetak C3501 For:

  • Long-Term Durability: If you are in the market for a durable, long-term solution primarily required for city usage, then the Chetak C3501 is an ideal solution for you.
  • Predictable Ownership: With an adequate driving range output, the Bajaj Chetak C3501 is suited for city usage, while having the capacity to take on longer routes.
  • Cargo Space: The Bajaj Chetak C3501 is for you if you need an e-scooter with more space to store parcels and smaller luggage.

Choose The Ola S1 Pro For:

  • High-Speed Performance: If you need rapid acceleration to ensure quicker highway overtakes and high-speed performance, the Ola S1 Pro is the answer.
  • High-Range Requirements: The Ola S1 Pro offers high-range performance for longer daily commutes, delivering around 242 km of certified driving range.
  • Tech Integrations: If you need over-the-air updates, keyless operation, inbuilt speakers for entertainment and a massive 7-inch display cluster, the S1 Pro is just what you need.
