Volkswagen ID. Polo GTI Unveiled

Volkswagen unveiled the ID Polo GTI at the 24h Nürburgring endurance race this week. It is the brand’s first pure-electric model that carries the GTI badge. The brand also confirmed that the electric Polo GTI will be available in the German market from Autumn 2026, which would be somewhere around late September 2026. There’s also been a chatter about a more powerful ‘Clubsport’ variant, that will be even more powerful, and radical.
Kia Carens Clavis EV Launched With BaaS

In a move to encourage EV adoption, and make owning them easier, Kia has launched its Carens Clavis EV in India with a BaaS (Battery As A Service) model. Instead of a single lump-sum loan amount, customers can now choose to finance the chassis for up to 60 months, and the battery for a longer tenure of up to 96 months. Apart from this, the daily running, battery subscription fee is set at Rs 3.3/km, which is very competitive. It is priced from Rs 12.84 lakh now.
Jaguar’s 1,000 HP Electric Four-Door GT Officially Named ‘Type 01’

Jaguar just confirmed the name of its first-ever electric coupé. It is called the Type 01, and makes upwards of 746 kW, or 1000 horsepower. The ‘Type’ prefix derives inspiration from the brand’s legendary motorsport and sports car lineage, including the likes of Le Mans-winning C-Type, the D-Type, and the universally adored, gorgeous E-Type. The ‘0’ represents the car’s zero-emission powertrain, and the ‘1’ denotes that it’s the first model of Jaguar’s next-generation vehicles.
BYD India To Increase EV Prices From July 2026

The brand has confirmed that it will increase the prices of all of its models in India, by up to 2% from July 2026. The reason for this price exchange has been given as the forex (foreign exchange) fluctuations. But, there’s good news too: customers who will book a BYD electric car in May or June, can still get the current prices. But, this will only be for the customers whose delivery procedure is completed on or before July 31, 2026.
Maruti Suzuki eVitara Spotted At Dealerships

After the February price reveal, the Maruti Suzuki eVitara has finally started hitting showroom floors. The base Delta variant was spotted at a local dealership, wrapped in the Splendid Silver shade. The eVitara starts at Rs 15.99 lakh as a whole package, or Rs 10.99 lakh under the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) subscription model, where it will attract a lot of first-time EV buyers.
