Mahindra will introduce its completely electric seven-seater SUV, XEV.9s, at the beginning of the week. The latest teasers indicate various luxurious features that have been put forward to attract the premium segment of the electric vehicle market. The premiere will take place on November 27 in Bengaluru and will be accompanied by the introduction of the company’s INGLO electric platform that emphasizes family-oriented practicality.
Premium Cabin Confirmed
Teaser clips have provided a detailed look at the interior of the XEV.9s, thus making it certain that a cabin of very high technology has been set up. The dashboard feature consists of an iconic three-screen arrangement, which includes a digital driver’s display, a central infotainment touchscreen, and a dedicated screen for the front passenger. The big digital interface has a strong Qualcomm Snapdragon processor as its backbone.
Entertainment and Sound
A major point of interest for the XEV.9s is the attention given to the back passenger comfort and entertainment. The recent teasers confirm the revealing of rear entertainment screens (or holders for a Bring Your Own Device setup) that will be able to link with the front displays. In addition, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system will be in the SUV, which will be the one to provide Dolby Atmos technology for a sound experience that is hard to hear and, thus, more engaging than ever.
Enhanced Comfort Features
The XEV.9s has been characterized as a vehicle that is both roomy and conducive to chauffeur use, with various comfort upgrades that make it so. Among these are the ‘Boss Mode’ setting, which enables passengers in the second row to electronically move the front passenger seat backward and thus gain legroom. The middle row seats are both sliding and reclining, adding to the SUV’s flexibility and lounge-like atmosphere, which is further enhanced by an openable panoramic sunroof.
Safety and Platform
The XEV.9s is built on the Mahindra INGLO ‘Born Electric’ dedicated skateboard, which maximizes the interior space and offers great sturdiness of the body. The safety kit is lavish, including Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) and a complete seven-airbag arrangement in utmost-spec models. There are also two storage spaces for the vehicle, one being a rear trunk and the other a functional frunk (front trunk) for the passenger.
Powertrain and Launch
The XEV.9s specifications will be disclosed during the launch; however, they will likely be the same as those of its coupe sibling, the XEV.9e, in terms of battery and motor configurations. This would imply that consumers get to choose between a 59 kWh and a 79 kWh battery pack, with the claimed range potentially being more than 500 km. The XEV.9s is scheduled to compete with the likes of Tata Harrier EV, thus focusing on the extension of the premium, practical electric family SUVs segment.
