TVS Motor Company has introduced a new electric scooter called the TVS Orbiter V1, aimed at making electric mobility more affordable for city commuters. The scooter is positioned as the most budget-friendly electric model in the company’s lineup. Under the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model, the Orbiter V1 is priced at ₹49,999 (ex-showroom, Delhi, including PM e-Drive benefits).
Buyers who prefer complete ownership, including the battery, can opt for the standard purchase option priced at ₹84,500 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Orbiter V1 is powered by a 1.8 kWh battery pack, which has been developed mainly for daily urban commuting. TVS says the scooter offers a certified IDC range of about 86 km on a single charge. Charging the battery from 0 to 80 per cent takes around 2 hours and 20 minutes, making it practical for regular city usage.
Battery-as-a-Service Ownership Model
Along with the Orbiter V1, TVS Motor has presented a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) ownership alternative for its electric vehicles. Under this arrangement, the battery is not included in the scooter’s base price, which enables reducing the upfront cost for buyers. Instead of buying the battery, customers can select a monthly subscription program to utilise it. TVS says these plans start from ₹862 per month, with the amount depending on the usage plan selected by the rider.
The BaaS package also includes additional coverage. This includes an extended warranty of up to 5 years or 70,000 km. According to the company, riders will also get unlimited monthly usage during the subscription period, allowing them to use the scooter without worrying about kilometre limits.
Features And Technology
The TVS Orbiter V1 includes multiple features that enhance its daily operational performance. The mobile application enables riders to access particular vehicle sections and operational functions through their smartphone connection to the system.

The system includes these primary characteristics:
- LED headlamp
- Colour LCD instrument cluster
- Hill Hold Assist
- Cruise Control
- Parking Assist
- Two riding modes
- Regenerative braking
- OTA software updates

Design And Practicality
The scooter features a long seat that measures 845 mm flat, providing sufficient space for both the rider and passenger to sit comfortably. It also comes with a 290 mm straight floorboard, which provides additional foot space for riders while also serving as a practical solution to carry small bags during brief trips around the city.
In terms of storage, the Orbiter V1 provides 34 litres of under-seat space, which should be sufficient for carrying everyday essentials like a helmet, small bags, or groceries.
Company Statement
Speaking about the launch, Gaurav Gupta, President, India Two-Wheeler Business at TVS Motor, said the Orbiter V1 is designed to offer a more accessible starting point for customers looking to switch to electric scooters. He added that the Battery-as-a-Service model provides flexibility while making the ownership cost clearer for buyers.
Aniruddha Haldar, Senior Vice President and Head of Commuter & EV Business at TVS Motor, said the new scooter draws from insights gained from earlier electric models. He noted that the Orbiter V1 has been developed mainly for everyday city commuting and that the flexible ownership option could help encourage more people to consider electric vehicles.
