Tata Curvv EV Series X Variants: Which Version Of The Electric Coupe-Suv Is The Best Pick In India?

Tata Curvv EV Series X in India: Overview

Tata Motors has completely restructured the Curvv EV lineup with the launch of the Series X. The new lineup includes three variants: Accomplished X, Empowered X, and Empowered X Dark Edition, with a starting price of Rs 16.99 lakh.

The complete Curvv EV portfolio now revolves around the larger 55 kWh battery pack, since Tata Motors has discontinued all other existing variants, including the 45 kWh options.

Aesthetically, the Series X carries over the distinctive coupe-SUV silhouette that differentiates the Curvv EV from conventional boxy alternatives, while introducing a new Nitro Crimson exterior shade. Meanwhile, the lifetime warranty on the battery pack, covering 15 years from the first date of vehicle registration, continues to be offered.

Tata Curvv EV Series X Variants and Pricing in India

The Series X introduces three specific trims. The strategic pricing makes the entry point to the 55 kWh battery significantly more accessible, creating a unique overlap within Tata’s own electric portfolio.

Variant Battery Capacity Claimed Range Price (Ex-Showroom)
      Accomplished X 55 kWh 505 km Rs 16.99 Lakh
      Empowered X 55 kWh 505 km Rs 19.19 Lakh
Empowered X Dark Edition 55 kWh 505 km Rs 19.49 Lakh

      (* all prices are ex-showroom)

The most notable takeaway from this pricing structure is the positioning of the Accomplished X trim. At Rs 16.99 lakh, it now stands as the most affordable Curvv EV variant, aggressively undercutting select variants of the sub-compact Nexon EV while offering superior range and a larger vehicle footprint.

Tata Curvv EV Series X: Range & Performance Figures

All Series X variants of the Tata Curvv EV utilise the same powertrain setup, including a front-axle-mounted electric motor.

Specification Tata Curvv EV Series X (55 kWh)
      Battery Capacity 55 kWh
      Power 167 hp
      Torque 215 Nm
      Claimed Range (MIDC) 502 km
      Real World Range 350 – 400 km
      AC Charging (7.2kW) 10-100% in 7.6 hours
DC Fast Charging 10-80% in 40 minutes (up to 70kW)

The 167hp motor delivers a linear power band typical of Tata’s high-voltage EVs. The DC fast-charging capability ensures an efficient 10-80%top-up in 40 minutes, which aligns with the current segment standards for highway touring usability.

Tata Curvv Accomplished X vs Empowered X: Features and Differences

While the powertrain remains identical across the lineup, the Rs 2.2 lakh premium for the Empowered X trim brings a substantial upgrade in cabin technology and safety hardware. However, the Accomplished is not your typical base model, and comes loaded with a bunch of essential and feel-good features.

Tata Curvv EV vs Rivals: Pricing and Spec Analysis

The mid-size electric SUV segment has witnessed a rapid influx of new entrants. Here is how the 55 kWh Curvv EV Series X compares against the Hyundai Creta Electric, Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, MG Windsor EV, VinFast VF6, and Mahindra BE 6e.

Model Battery Options Power Output ARAI / MIDC Range Starting Price (Ex-Showroom)
Tata Curvv EV (Series X) 55 kWh 124.53 kW 502 km Rs 16.99 Lakh
      MG Windsor EV 38 / 52.9 kWh 101.41 kW 332 / 449 km Rs 14.10 Lakh
      Maruti Suzuki e Vitara 49 / 61 kWh 107.3/129.75 kW / 174 hp 440 / 543 km Rs 15.99 Lakh
      VinFast VF6 59.6 kWh 131.98/152.12 kW hp 463 / 468 km Rs 17.29 Lakh
      Hyundai Creta Electric 42 / 51.4 kWh 100/127.51 kW 420 / 510 km Rs 18.02 Lakh
      Mahindra BE 6e 59 / 79 kWh 172/213.27 kW 548 / 683 km Rs 18.90 Lakh

The Curvv EV Accomplished X makes room for itself in an otherwise pretty competitive class with its value-for-money approach. It outprices the base Maruti e Vitara but offers a larger battery (55 kWh vs 49 kWh) and superior range (502 km vs 440 km) in return. While the MG Windsor EV remains the segment leader for upfront affordability, it falls short on battery capacity and overall range.

At the higher end of the price ladder, the Curvv EV Empowered X (Rs 19.19 lakh) remains a sensible alternative to the premium Hyundai Creta Electric and the performance-focused, rear-wheel-drive Mahindra BE 6e, offering comprehensive ADAS features and V2L capabilities at a lower price point.

Why the Accomplished X Hits the Sweet Spot

For a starting price of Rs 16.99 lakh, the Accomplished X effectively renders lower-tier Tata EVs redundant. It democratises the 55kWh battery pack while retaining high-value features like a panoramic sunroof, and a 360-degree camera.

      • Buy the Accomplished X if: You are searching for maximum range per rupee. The variant delivers the full 502km (claimed) capability and premium essential features without crossing the Rs 17 lakh mark, making it the most sensible long-range family EV currently on the market.
      • Buy the Empowered X if: You frequently engage in highway driving and value the active safety net provided by Level 2 ADAS, or if premium audio and V2L capabilities are essential to your ownership experience.

Pros and Cons of Buying the Curvv EV Series X

      Pros

      • Value for Money: Unbeatable battery-to-price ratio in the midsize SUV class.
      • Battery Warranty: The 15-year lifetime warranty on the battery pack is a segment first (except the more premium BE 6), ensuring high resale value and peace of mind.
      • Feature Density: Twin 10.25-inch digital display setup, panoramic sunroofs, and 360-degree cameras offered as standard

      Cons

      • Coupe Roofline Compromises: The sloping roofline negatively affects the maximum rear headroom and limits the vertical cargo stacking capacity compared to boxier rivals like the e Vitara or the Creta Electric.
      • Power Deficit: While 123 kW is adequate, it lacks the sheer performance advantage seen in the similarly priced VinFast VF6 or the Mahindra BE 6e’s rear-wheel-drive architecture.
