Best-Selling Electric Scooters In August 2026

The total recorded EV scooter sales in August 2026 were 1,75,715 units, which is about 11.06% from July 2026. Based on the Vahan data that we have received, the list is quite interesting, and TVS iQube retained the top spot, while Hero Vida and Honda were the only brands in the list to record month-on-month growth.

      • A total sale of 1,75,715 electric scooters was recorded in August 2026 for the top 10 brands
      • TVS iQube remained the best-selling brand with 48,262 units
      • Bajaj Auto still occupies the second place with 39,584 units
      • Ather follows behind at third with 27,602 units
      • Hero Vida was the strongest performer among the leading brands, growing 9.06% Month-on-Month ((MoM)
      • Honda also recorded marginal growth of 0.47%, which is a surprise after decreasing sales for so many months
      • Greaves Electric mobility dropped by a massive 14.58%, the biggest drop in the list

India’s electric scooter market saw a noticeable slowdown in August 2026, with the top 10 brands in the Vahan portal data registering 1,75,715 units in combined sales. That is down from 1,97,569 units in July, translating to an 11.06% Month-on-Month (MoM) decline. This drop was fairly widespread, with 8 of the 10 brands recording lower sales than in July. However, the rankings have remained remarkably stable, with none of the brands changing positions when compared to previou data.

      9 Simple Energy 1,504 -2.53% 1,543
      10 Honda 864 +0.47% 860
      Total 1,75,715 -11.06% 1,97,569

TVS iQube Remains India’s Best-Selling Electric Scooter This Month Too

TVS iQube continues to lead the sales chart in August, with 48,262 units sold. However, the sales figure was much lower than the 55,073 units recorded in July, resulting in a 12.37% decline. Despite the drop, TVS remained comfortably ahead of Bajaj Auto. The iQube’s August sales were almost 8,700 units higher than those of Bajaj Chetak. The main driver in TVS’s sales in the iQube range, which is then assisted by the decently selling TVS Orbiter and the TVS X Electric, which is more of a halo product for the brand.

      Bajaj Chetak Holds Second Place

Bajaj Auto holds the second place firmly with 39,584 units in August 2026. Its sales figures were down by 10.70% from 44,328 units in July, representing a steep decline. Despite the decrease in sales, Bajaj continues to maintain a sizeable lead over Ather, the third brand in the sales rankings.

Bajaj has been consistently challenging TVS for the top spot in India’s electric two-wheeler market, but now the recent data indicates that TVS has captured a significant chunk of the market, shooting ahead of Bajaj by around 8,700 units. And, if we consider both of these top brands, TVS and Bajaj, they sell quite decently in India and account for more sales than all other manufacturers in the list combined.

The current Bajaj Chetak lineup includes the Bajaj Chetak C2501, C3001, C3501, C3502, And C3503, which cater to a wide range of buyers with their diverse feature sets, and battery pack options.

Ather Remains Third Despite Lower Sales

Ather retained third place with 27,602 units in August. Its sales fell by 6.61% compared with July’s 29,555 units. Interestingly, this was the smallest decline among the top three manufacturers.

Ather therefore continues to hold a strong position behind TVS and Bajaj, with the brand’s family-focused Rizta playing an important role in its sales performance, which racks up more than 70% of brand sales alone alongside the Ather 450 series, which include the Ather 450X, Ather 450S, and the Ather 450 Apex. Also, the launch of the new Ather Konarc family electric scooter also gives Ather another product aimed at the more affordable end of the electric scooter market, and it could be a major sales driver in the upcoming months.

Hero Vida Records Growth As Most Rivals Decline

Hero Vida had the strongest month among the leading, and legacy electric manufacturers. Vida sold 18,529 electric scooters in August, compared with 16,989 units in July. That is a 9.06% increase in MoM sales when compared to the previous month.

While the brand remained fourth in the ranking, the increase stands out against the wider decline across the market. We think that Vida’s growth is the result of the brand’s wide lineup, which includes models such as the Vida VX2 Go and Vida VX2 Plus, including battery subscription options that make it much more accessible to the budget-conscious buyers by lowering upfront costs significantly.

Ola Electric Stays Fifth In The Rankings

Ola Electric retained fifth place with 13,706 units in August 2026. The brand sold 13,943 units in July, indicating that its sales declined by just 1.70%. This is quite interesting, as it makes Ola’s decline relatively small compared with several manufacturers further down the ranking.

However, the wider industry data also shows Ola’s market share has fallen considerably compared with its position a year earlier, and if they want to make a comeback, the service experience needs to be a lot more consistent and better. Also, Ola launched its affordable electric scooter in India, the Ola S1 Z, to compete against the Ather Konarc and the upcoming Simple Wave, which might have worked in favour of the brand, but the deliveries have been pushed to 2027, which makes this launch look more of a promise than a commitment.

Greaves, River And BGauss See Steeper Declines

Brands like Greaves, River, and BGauss saw some of the sharper declines among the list in MoM sales. Greaves Electric recorded 8,130 units, down 14.58%, making it the largest percentage decline in the list among the top 10 manufacturers. River Mobility followed with a 14.21% drop, while Bgauss sales fell 13.65%. Despite the monthly declines, these underdogs continue to record significant Year-on-Year (YoY) growths.

      Honda Interestingly Records Marginal Growth

Honda, despite finishing tenth with 864 units in August 2026, recorded a marginal growth of 0.47%, which comes as a surprise. This is because we had received reports that production of Honda electric scooters was halted, and the sales data for corresponding months from SIAM (Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers) reflected the same. But, now, it seems the Japanese marque is making a comeback and gaining traction in the market. But, despite all of this, it has a lot of ground to cover and take its primary competition – TVS and Bajaj – head on.

      Simple Energy Raises Our Hopes

Just like popular electric manufacturers, Simple Energy has got all of it right. Be it the tech, sales, or the product itself. The Simple One, Simple One S, and the Simple Ultra are fantastic scooters and are definitely helping the brand gain recognition among buyers. Meanwhile, it recorded 1,504 units, which is 2.53% less than July 2026 sales. But, it would be definitely interesting to see what the future holds for Simple, the brand, which is scheduled to launch the ‘Simple Wave’, a new family scooter that will compete with the likes of Ather Konarc and the Bajaj Chetak C2501 in the affordable family electric scooter segment.

      SearchEV Says

August was a slower month for the electric scooter market, but the sales chart itself remained remarkably stable. TVS iQube, Bajaj and Ather retained the top three positions, even though all three recorded lower sales than in July 2026.

The more interesting development came from Hero Vida, which managed to increase sales by 9.06% while most of the market moved in the opposite direction. Ola Electric also kept its decline relatively contained, while Greaves Electric, River Mobility and Bgauss saw sharper drops.

The rankings may not have changed in August, but the numbers suggest the competition underneath TVS is getting increasingly interesting. With Ather’s new Konarc entering the market and Vida continuing to expand its more accessible range, the battle for the next few positions could become much closer in the months ahead. And, we could also, Simple Energy, try to grab a piece of this cake with its Wave, which, if priced right, will be a major sales driver for the brand.
