The BGauss C12 MaxR is a premium, family-oriented electric scooter. The BGauss C12 MaxR is equipped with a 3.8 kWh battery pack with an IP67 safety rating for everyday utility and safety. With ride modes, a cruise mode, and a regenerative braking system, the C12 MaxR is designed for range efficiency. The C12 MaxR’s lightweight architecture makes it agile and nimble for city rides.

Exterior:
The BGauss C12 MaxR is positioned as a ‘family-lifestyle’ electric scooter that balances modern electric-vehicle attributes and traditional neo-retro styling elements for an appealing design. While it boasts a well-contoured architecture for a design approach that represents neo-retro attributes, the scooter also features an aggressive apron construction highlighted by LED lighting; the C12 MaxR gets a handlebar-mounted LED headlight and apron-integrated LED turn indicators.
The twin stripes that extend from the front fender to the apron are also neat attributes that elevate the premium and rich design appeal that the BGauss C12 MaxR boasts throughout its design. With smooth, curved architecture, fluid panelling, and upright structural construction, the C12 MaxR tries to look sporty, but definitely remains grounded as a family-focused e-scooter for utility.
The 770 mm single-piece seating also elevates the utility/premium factor that the BGauss C12 MaxR tries to represent; it comes with leatherette upholstery with diamond-patterned integrations and sufficient bolstering to lend a premium, utility-focused, and muscular appeal. The composite paneling below the seating area, near the floorboard section, is another element that gives the BGauss C12 MaxR a strong appeal. The practical floorboard area offers sufficient space.
The slatted air-circulatory vents are also noteworthy; they provide motor-incorporated cooling and assist with aerodynamic efficiency. The footpegs are another element that is neatly tucked near the lower composite panel section towards the floorboard area. Coming towards the rear section, the C12 MaxR features a chunky pillion grab handle. With a seamless LED tail light integration, the C12 MaxR’s rear end is tied up well in terms of design. The scooter also comes in unique colours.
Nevertheless, one thing that could be enhanced further in terms of design is the handlebar-mounted headlight; it offers the vehicle a dated look and could have been integrated into the apron for a modern appeal. Also, the throw of the LED lights could be better for enhanced nighttime visibility. That said, they offer sufficient lighting to navigate city riding environments. Also, the front apron-mounted utility pocket is uncovered, which makes it not useful in wet conditions.

While the headlight placement and retro attributes might not be to everyone’s taste, the BGauss C12 MaxR comes in multiple colour schemes to provide the scooter with a unique appeal. The BGauss C12 MaxR comes with Eco, Ride, and Sport modes. While on the subject, the scooter is also equipped with a reverse mode to back up the vehicle easily. For seamless usability, the scooter also gets a 5-inch informative TFT display cluster. However, the BGauss C12 MaxR lacks a touchscreen TFT cluster seen in many other scooters.
In terms of what the cluster has to offer, the system offers turn-by-turn navigation, call notifications, and ride statistics to support optimal ride operations. The system can also store two user profiles to operate based on unique user requirements. It also comes with auto-brightness and night mode functions for a tad bit of better convenience. While on the subject of convenience, the display system also showcases distance to empty (battery state of charge, SOC) and service reminders.
All said, the BGauss C12 MaxR could have been offered with a touchscreen TFT cluster for seamless operations; it could make navigating map settings quicker. That being said, accessing submenus is easier with the physical switchgear; the menu structure is shallow, meaning it only requires two to three steps. The screen is also virtually fast, with less software lag. Nevertheless, in terms of performance and range, the BGauss C12 MaxR is equally practical and sufficient:
BGauss C12 MaxR Performance & Range
For urban operating efficiency, the BGauss C12 MaxR is equipped with a 3.8 kWh battery with CAN support; this controller area network (CAN) ensures control of battery parameters for efficiency. In fact, this battery with CAN support delivers 3.4 kWh of usable capacity to ensure seamless operations and thermal efficiency. Paired with a hyperdrive side-mounted motor, the C12 MaxR is designed to deliver high power as well. The C12 MaxR is engineered to churn out 4.2 kW of maximum power to achieve high-acceleration performance – it can clock speeds of over 75 kmph.
While on the subject, the BGauss C12 MaxR can register 0-40 kmph in just 5.3 seconds, enabled by this very same powerful motor and battery configuration. The ride modes also assist with adaptive performance: ‘Eco’ mode delivers over 45 kmph speeds, ‘Ride’ mode helps achieve over 60 kmph, and when engaged in ‘Sport’ mode, the vehicle can reach over 75 kmph speeds. In fact, the BGauss C12 MaxR with such capacities delivers predictable, non-aggressive performance.
Moreover, the motor controller of the BGauss C12 MaxR is designed to meter out aggressive power delivery, making it suitable for urban traffic congestion and stop-and-go traffic conditions. Keeping the scooter in Eco or Ride mode helps with linear power delivery and prevents unnecessary wheel spins and loss of traction on loose surfaces. On tarmac, the grip of the scooter is also good, supported by not-so-aggressive powertrain power delivery. What about range output?
The BGauss C12 MaxR’s powertrain is designed to produce an ARAI-certified range output of 178 km on a fully charged battery pack. However, the real-world range performance can vary based on ride mode engagement: ‘Eco’ and ‘Ride’ modes help the powertrain deliver 130 km / full charge range. Meanwhile, ‘Sport’ mode helps the scooter produce 90-100 km / full charge rideable range.
All this being said, there is one minor setback of such powertrain engineering: the maximum speed is capped at around 75 kmph. This means that when operating across open ring roads or highway stretches, the electric scooter reaches its peak and does not have reserve power to handle quick overtakes. Scooters such as the Ola S1 Pro and Ather 450X can achieve better speeds in this segment. Also, the vehicle does not provide thrilling power, since it is tuned for calmness.
BGauss C12 MaxR Ride & Handling
The BGauss C12 MaxR is tuned to offer a smooth and composed ride performance best suited for city riding conditions. For the same purpose, the BGauss C12 MaxR is equipped with hydraulic telescopic suspension in the front, while the rear is equipped with Nitrox Gas emulsion type and 5
step-adjustable single hydraulic suspension. Moreover, with preload adjustment functionality, riding with a pillion load prevents the rear from sagging or bottoming out, offering a good spring rate.

BGauss C12 MaxR Safety
The BGaussC12 MaxR is designed to ensure rider and vehicle safety with multiple features. The C12 MaxR is equipped with FallSense, which detects vehicle drops to cut off motor power and prevent runaway, a side stand motor cut-off system, and other SOS functions. With tubular chassis construction with reinforcements, vehicle structural safety is also prioritised. The chassis frame and suspension architecture also enables the vehicle to handle payloads of up to 150 kgs.
Apart from the active safety elements and strong structural construction, the BGauss C12 MaxR comes with features such as a parental cluster lock function, a vehicle secure lock function, a vehicle health check function, and firmware updates to stay relevant and seamless over the course of ownership. For vehicle safety, the BGauss C12 MaxR also comes with a limp-home function when the battery state of charge is very low. However, the scooter lacks an anti-lock braking system (ABS); it can further enhance safety to a large extent by preventing wheel lockups.
BGauss C12 MaxR Space & Comfort
The BGauss C12 MaxR is designed to seat a rider and pillion comfortably. For this purpose, the seating arrangement is made longer and taller by 770 mm in length and 768 mm in height, respectively. This indicates that the seat features high-density foam or thicker cushioning for comfortable city commutes for both the rider and pillion on the electric scooter. However, the higher floorboard design means that the rider’s knee comes in contact with the handlebar when taking U-turns.
When it comes to space, the BGauss C12 MaxR does not shy away from offering a storage area under the seat to keep essentials; it has 38 litres of space and a boot lamp for convenience. While speaking about storage spaces, there is also a front glove pocket that has a USB charging port nearby to connect a mobile phone (but the lack of a cover means that, in wet riding conditions, this space will not spare your phone if it is not waterproof). There is also a grocery bag hook near the seat. Overall, there are improvements to be made featuring the floorboard design in particular.
BGauss C12 MaxR Charging & Warranty
With a 750 W charger, the BGauss C12 MaxR can be charged in just 3 hours and 50 minutes, juicing up the battery from 0-80 percent state-of-charge (SOC). Meanwhile, recharging from 0-100 percent takes 5 hours and 15 minutes. Thanks to these capacities, charging when parked (overnight charging) is pretty straightforward; it takes the same amount of time as mentioned above under home charging conditions. Heat generation on home plugpoints is also minimal. But there is a limitation: the scooter does not support DC fast charging, which is a huge letdown.
Want good news? BGauss C12 MaxR comes with up to 3 years or 50,000 kilometres of standard vehicle warranty. The battery pack comes with a 3-year or 50,000 km standard warranty.
