The electric passenger car market is shifting gears with the change in the way electric cars are perceived by customers in India. Long gone are the days which defined electric cars as just a tight 5-seater EV hatchback or luxury EV imports derived from premature technology. Now in 2026, the EV space has given way to long-range, 3-row electric cars into the mainstream budgets. Interested in stepping into the new era of EV cars? If yes, here are details of the 5 best 7-seater electric cars in India you need to consider:

5 Best 7-Seater Electric Cars In 2026 | Explore Important Details:

1. Kia Carens Clavis EV | One Of The Best Electric MPVs?

The Kia Carens Clavis EV is designed to set the pace for the electric MPV market in India, crafted to deliver performance and meet the convenience factor that customers prefer. It is built around a cutting-edge electric vehicle architecture to maximise performance and efficiency necessary to keep the spirits up of those who need to travel long distances. As a family-oriented MPV, the Carens Clavis EV does offer enough cabin space and premium features for an upmarket appeal.

Speaking of appeal, the Carens Clavis EV does instil a long-lasting impression with the unique signature design elements distinct from its ICE counterpart. It gets LED-connected DRLs, a closed grille, and an aerodynamic wheel design, giving it a bold stance that customers appreciate. Like the exterior design, the inside too is upmarket; the MPV gets a dual panoramic display, a wireless smartphone charging pad, and a BOSE sound system, complemented by 8 speakers in total.

The performance is a part of the appeal too, diversified into two distinct performance-based variants: 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh (electric motor configurations). With the 42 kWh capacity electric motor, the car can deliver 99 kW of power, while the 51.4 kWh motor churns out 126 kW of power. On a positive note, torque remains the same across the two electric motor configurations: 255 Nm.

What about range efficiency? The Carens Clavis EV offers a 404 km driving range with the 42 kWh variant and a 490 km range output with the 51.4 kWh variant. Must come with a hefty price with all these elements? The Kia Carens Clavis EV comes with the following price tag:

  • Ex-Showroom Price: Starts From Rs 17.99 Lakh And Ranges Up To Rs 24.49 Lakh.

2. Mahindra XEV 9S | A Bold New Electric SUV?

The Mahindra XEV 9S is built from the ground up on a new-age electric SUV architecture. This electric SUV is also designed to announce its arrival with a grand presence, featuring its unique design elements. Promising strength, performance and cutting-edge appeal, the XEV 9S redefines the EV space that once nurtured cosmetic appearance rather than creating an all-rounder. For the same, it comes with multiple technologically advanced tools that maximise performance:

To point out a few, the Mahindra XEV 9S is equipped with an intelligent adaptive rear suspension system, 5-link independent suspension, an advanced LFP battery pack fitment, high-power steering with VGR, a brake-by-wire system, and iLink front suspension, among others. These systems are developed to ensure better driving dynamics and enhance overall performance.

While the XEV 9S from Mahindra does promise to offer superior driving performance with the tools above, it does not compromise on cabin comfort and convenience as a cost-cutting method. In fact, the cabin is equipped with a massive 31.24 cm triple screen, ambient lighting, a 6-way powered co-driver seat function, and premium leatherette seats, among other things.

What about power and torque performance? The XEV 9S SUV offers multiple battery capacity-based variants that set top-notch performance standards; it includes 59 kWh, 70 kWh and 79 kWh capacity variants – these deliver 170 kW, 180 kW and 210 kW of power, respectively. Meanwhile, torque remains the same across all variants: massive 380 Nm of torque output.

Prices for the Mahindra XEV 9S SUV are also justified with these elements provided:

  • Ex-Showroom Price: Starts From Rs 19.95 Lakh And Ranges Up To Rs 29.45 Lakh.

3. BYD eMAX 7 | A Top-Notch 7-Seater Solution?

The BYD eMAX 7 is another long-range solution that comes with a subtle cosmetic design that lends a premium and contemporary styling appeal, which customers often find suitable for an MPV. The vehicle comes with a seamless blend of elements that gives it a superb road presence; hence, the BYD eMAX 7 does feel premium from all angles. It features the following design attributes:

The eMAX 7 flaunts a striking dragon-inspired fascia, a floating crystal-type LED headlight setup, and a high-performance-oriented and dynamic wheel structure. Moreover, its aerodynamic lines and contours add up to the modern design architecture, making sure that the eMAX 7 from BYD remains suitable for any occasion. Inside, too, the vehicle gets a modern and ergonomic layout; it ensures that the driver and passengers remain comfortable throughout the trip.

In terms of features, the vehicle gets upper AC vents, an NFC key card for entry and exit, a wireless charging pad, a 12.8-inch (32.5 cm) advanced and rotating touch screen infotainment system, adaptive cruise control and a bag full of safety features; it gets a brake override system, 360 degree view monitoring, autonomous emergency braking and blind spot detection systems, among others.

As for options on offer, the BYD eMAX 7 comes in two variants: ‘Premium’ and ‘Superior’, which deliver 120 kW and 150 kW of maximum power, respectively. Torque output remains the same across these variants; the vehicle delivers 310 Nm of maximum torque output. Prices for the BYD eMAX 7, one of the best 7-seater electric MPVs in India, are provided below:

  • Ex-Showroom Price: Starts From Rs 26.90 Lakh And Ranges Up To Rs 29.90 Lakh.

4. VinFast VF MPV 7 | An MPV Prioritising Space Over All?

While all other solutions discussed above set a new standard in the EV 7-seater car segment, the VinFast VF MPV 7 is all about space, thoughtfully designed for families, all while delivering adequate performance required for Indian operating environments. But that alone is not what makes it a top-notch MPV; it gets modern design characteristics that suit customer preferences.

This includes perfectly sculpted contour lines, dynamic precision-cut alloy wheels, advanced LED projector headlights with a floating DRL design, and signature V-shaped LED lighting that runs across the width of the rear boot. The premiumness is carried forward to the cabin space too; it is where the design gets interesting, a place where families will mostly spend on long journeys.

The cabin features leatherette upholstery with white-threaded stitching as borderlines, giving the space a more premium and class-apart appeal. Keeping passenger comfort in mind, there are AC vents across all seating rows with dedicated controls for the 3rd row. Also, little things like the addition of a headrest for all passengers mean comfort and safety are prioritised to be top-class.

The VF MPV 7 from VinFast is also brilliant in terms of power and torque performance; it delivers 150 kW of power and 280 Nm of maximum torque output. Speaking of performance, the driving range offered by this MPV is 517 km on a fully recharged battery pack. How much does the VinFast VF MPV 7 cost in India? The following are its pricing details:

  • Ex-Showroom Price: Starts From Rs 24.49 Lakh.

5. MG M9 | A Premium Electric MPV?

Lastly, the MG M9, deemed the presidential limo, truly offers the best comfort you can ever find from a vehicle in this segment. It currently sits with a luxury quotient in par with the premium luxury MPV solutions. This Carnival-sized premium MPV is in a whole different game when it comes to delivering comfort. For the same purpose, it gets premium cognac brown leather seats with suede, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, 64 colour ambient lighting functionality, and rear seats with 16-way adjustability (Includes 4-way lumbar and headrest adjustments).

Safety is also not missed out when designing the MG M9; it integrates 7 airbags, an electronic stability program, a 360-degree camera, TPMS, disc brakes at all ends, an electronic parking brake with an autohold function, an emergency brake assist system and gets an ENCAP 5-star rating. Must definitely cost a fortune? Yes, in fact, the MG M9 Premium MPV costs the following:

  • Ex-Showroom Price: Is Around Rs 70.90 Lakh In India.

The Verdict: Which EV 7-Seater Vehicle Should You Choose?

Choosing the right electric 7-seater car depends on your requirements; if you need a daily driver and a vehicle for occasional long-distance driving with family, the Kia Carens Clavis EV is ideal. Meanwhile, if you are looking for sporty appeal with premium features, then the Mahindra XEV 9S is the best bet. But, if you, as a customer, need something that sits between performance and comfort, the BYD eMAX 7 and VinFast VF MPV 7 can be an ideal solution for you. Want pure luxury? The answer is simply the MG M9.
