Ahead of its launch today (June 30, 2026), Tata Motors is leaving no stone unturned in displaying the real-world capabilities of the reborn Sierra EV. The latest campaign video from the brand showcases the electric SUV driving from Mumbai to Goa.
While highway range anxiety remains a significant hurdle for EV adoption, Tata’s latest video seeks to definitively put those concerns to rest. By putting the vehicle in the hands of different types of drivers, the footage confirms crucial powertrain details, most notably that the Sierra EV is claimed to be capable of breaching the 700-kilometre mark on a single charge when driven under optimal conditions.
The Mumbai to Goa Run and 700+ Km Range
The video campaign highlights three distinct driving scenarios: a family on a road trip, an entrepreneur driving for work, and an automotive journalist tasked with testing the vehicle’s absolute endurance.
Though the first two cars were driven in a traditional manner and made charging stops during their trip, the journalist took part in hypermiling, a method of driving which aimed at achieving an optimum speed to increase energy efficiency.
By the time the Sierra EV covered 309 kilometres, there remained 56 percent of State of Charge (SOC). When the car passed 547 kilometres and entered Goa, it had 21 percent of its battery left. Rather than finishing the test drive, the reporter kept going south to Gokarna, where the battery was completely exhausted only a few kilometres away from the destination point. The Sierra EV covered an amazing 702 kilometres on one battery charge.
75 kWh Battery and Charging Capabilities Confirmed
The 702-kilometre achievement directly correlates with the efficiency figures displayed on the driver’s screen. The hypermiling run recorded an impressive energy consumption rate of just 107 Wh/km. When calculating this efficiency against the total distance covered, it mathematically confirms that this top-tier variant of the Sierra EV is equipped with a 75 kWh battery pack. This effectively mirrors the larger battery option in the Harrier EV, but benefits from the Sierra’s slightly more compact footprint.
Furthermore, the driver display during normal operation showed a maximum estimated range of 530 kilometres in ‘Eco’ mode. The video also provided a glimpse into the vehicle’s electrical architecture, confirming that the Sierra EV will support DC fast charging speeds of up to 120 kW.
Powertrain and Interior Details
Built on Tata’s advanced acti.ev platform, the Sierra EV will be offered in both Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) and Quad-Wheel Drive (QWD) configurations. The RWD variants of the Sierra EV are expected to make 238 hp and 315 Nm of torque, while the dual-motor QWD versions will boost the output to over 300 horsepower and torque to over 500 Nm of torque.
The road trip footage also offered a clear look at the production-ready cabin. Key highlights include the much-discussed triple-screen layout on the dashboard, a floating centre console, a four-spoke steering wheel, and a Head-Up Display (HUD). Comfort and convenience features include ventilation and electric adjustment with memory function for the front seats.
