Ola Electric began handing over the new S1 Pro Plus to customers in Bengaluru, Kochi, and Hyderabad on December 29, 2025. What makes this rollout special is that it’s the first Ola scooter on the road powered by the company’s own in-house Bharat Cell technology.
Additionally, the brand’s flagship electric motorcycle, the Roadster X+, has received official government certification, paving the way for customer deliveries. This decision underscores Ola Electric’s commitment to local manufacturing and the development of homegrown electric vehicle technology.
New Battery Success
The S1 Pro Plus is the first vehicle to use the 4680 Bharat Cell, which is built entirely at Ola’s own factory in Tamil Nadu. These cells are bigger and more powerful than older ones, allowing the scooter to travel up to 320 km on a single charge. By making the cells themselves, Ola has become the first Indian company to own the entire process of building a battery-powered vehicle from scratch.
Government Safety Approval
Just a day after the scooter deliveries began, Ola’s flagship electric motorcycle, the Roadster X+, also received official government certification from iCAT. The bike passed tough safety and performance tests, including checks for braking, noise, and fire safety. This approval means the Roadster X+, which features a large 9.1 kWh battery, is now legally cleared to start being delivered to customers across India.
High Energy Performance
The new 4680 battery cells are designed to handle heat better, even during fast highway runs or in tough, hot conditions. Because they stay cooler and more stable, the Roadster X+ can extend its range to around 500 km, putting it well ahead of most electric bikes on the market. The zero-emission cells are also 10% more efficient than the industry standard, helping the vehicles accelerate faster and charge more quickly.

Local Production Growth
By establishing the Bharat Cell in India, Ola aims to make plug-in vehicles accessible to the average buyer. Previously, these high-tech cells had to be imported from other countries, which was expensive and caused delays. Now, with the Tamil Nadu Gigafactory scaling up, the company can produce these zero-emission parts at a much lower cost and at a higher volume.
Future Expansion Plans
Ola isn’t stopping with just these two models; they plan to put the Bharat Cell into their entire lineup of battery-powered two-wheelers. The company is also working on a second version of the cell that could be even more powerful. This move is part of a bigger plan to reduce “range anxiety” and make electric travel practical for people living in smaller towns, not just in big cities.
