      • The MG Hector Tomahawk EV is the first vehicle built on the new ADAPT architecture
      • Buyers can choose between five- and seven-seater configurations
      • Gets a 69.2 kWh battery pack that delivers a claimed MIDC range of 517 km
      • The battery rental cost under the BaaS program is set at Rs 4.9 per kilometer
      • Deliveries for the Hector Tomahawk EV SUV will begin in September 2026

The three-row electric SUV segment in India has received a new entrant as JSW MG Motor India launched the Hector Tomahawk EV at a starting price of Rs 19.49 lakh. This launch marks a significant shift for the automaker because it is their first vehicle utilising the brand-new ADAPT platform which was unveiled earlier.

MG has even introduced a battery rental program to heavily lower the initial buying cost, which could be a major hurdle when buying an EV. Though BaaS pricing for all variants is not revealed, the starting price has been quoted at Rs 13.99 lakh. Available in both 5- and 7-seater capacity, the Hector Tomahawk EV competes against electric cars in India from Mahindra, Kia, and Tata Motors, though Tata Motors is yet to introduce a 7-seater electric SUV in India, which would most likely be the upcoming Tata Safari EV.

MG Hector Tomahawk EV Variant and Pricing Breakdown

The variant list includes three main trims named Excite, Exclusive, and Essence. Interestingly, the five-seat layout is exclusively available on the top Essence trim. Meanwhile, the seven-seat layout covers all three variant levels.

You can buy the entire car upfront or opt for the Battery as a Service scheme. Choosing the BaaS route drops the starting price, while you pay a rental fee of Rs 4.9 for every kilometre driven.

Here is the official ex-showroom price list for the available variants.

MG Hector Tomahawk EV Variant Seating Layout Ex Showroom Price
Excite Seven Seater Rs 19.49 Lakh
Exclusive Seven Seater Rs 21.99 Lakh
Essence Five Seater Rs 22.99 Lakh
Essence Seven Seater Rs 23.49 Lakh

MG Hector Tomahawk EV Battery and Range Details

At the heart of the Hector Tomahawk EV sits a 69.2 kWh battery pack. This single battery option powers the entire lineup of three variants on offer. According to official MIDC testing, this setup provides a driving range of 517 kilometres on a full charge. Power comes from a 204 hp, permanent-magnet synchronous motor that helps the Hector EV to manage a 0-100 kmph (claimed) run in 8.2 seconds.

In terms of charging, the Hector Tomahawk EV supports up to 90 kW DC charging, with a 30-80 percent battery top-up completing in 35 minutes. In case of regular 7.4kW AC charging, a 10-100% charge takes nearly 12.5 hours.

The vehicle not only supports vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality, but also vehicle-to-home (V2H), which lets you power household appliances via two-way charging.

MG Hector Tomahawk EV Exterior and Road Presence

At the rear, the Tomahawk EV features wraparound LED tail lamps integrated into a sculpted rear design, complemented by a powered tailgate. The SUV measures 4,745mm in length, 1,850mm in width and 1,770mm in height, with a 2,810mm wheelbase and 230mm of ground clearance. It rides on 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and gets roof rails along with black cladding around the wheel arches and lower sections of the doors.

Up front, the Hector Tomahawk EV features LED projector headlamps paired with LED daytime running lights, with an illuminated MG logo positioned between the lights. The front bumper gets a blacked-out, closed-off lower fascia, reinforcing the EV’s distinctive appearance.

      Interior and Features

Inside, the Hector Tomahawk EV gets a 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen, claimed to be the largest in its segment, along with an 8.8-inch digital driver’s display. The infotainment system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while other convenience features include wireless phone charging and gesture controls for functions such as the air-conditioning and audio system.

The feature list also includes a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, 256-colour ambient lighting, a 10-speaker Infinity sound system, connected car technology, rear-window sunshades and a powered tailgate. The driver’s seat gets memory and auto-retract functionality. The SUV also offers multiple cabin modes, including Nap, Camp, Energise, Pro Pet, Valet and Quiet modes.

The Hector Tomahawk EV is offered in both five- and seven-seat configurations. The five-seat version provides 610 litres of boot space, which can be expanded to 1,053 litres by folding the second row. In the seven-seat version, boot capacity stands at 192 litres with all three rows in use and increases to 528 litres when the third row is folded.

      Conclusion

The MG Hector Tomahawk EV brings serious competition to the growing electric SUV market. With its long driving range, flexible seating options, and clever battery rental programme, it offers good value for large families. Dealerships are already accepting bookings, and the first set of customer deliveries will officially begin in September 2026.

As of now, the direct competition to the Hector EV in the seven-seat configuration (likely the higher-selling configuration) is the Mahindra XEV 9S and the Kia Clavis EV. We have seen what having a three-row EV in this category does to the numbers with the success of the 9S, and it will be interesting to see how potential customers respond to this new MG EV in the coming months.
