It has a similar neo-retro design but is more feature-packed than the Rorr EZ. It is the perfect bike for someone who has long commutes and wants a cost-effective means of transport.

      Expert Verdict

We think this bike should serve you well if you are looking for something to commute on daily. It is not the most feature-packed bike, but it will get the job done while keeping the running costs low. Also, if your commute is longer, we do recommend you look at their newer model, the Oben Rorr Evo, which is a bit more affordable and optimised as well.

      Oben Rorr EZ Sigma Design

      ★ 8/10

      Design and Colour Schemes

The Oben Rorr EZ has quite an attractive design in our opinion, with its retro-styled headlamp, and the sporty tank shrouds. While the headlamp looks retro, the tank extensions give it a sporty edge, blending in design elements seamlessly.

The bike is available in four paint schemes: Electric Red, Surge Cyan, Photon White and Electro Amber, all of which look quite sporty. But, we think that the Electric red is the best-looking one among the palette. These graphics are exactly the same as the Oben Rorr EZ, but come with the Sigma badge.

The Sigma carries all the traits from the Rorr EZ forward, and same is the case with the tyre hugger which looks a bit odd in its design.

      Build Quality

The overall build quality of the Oben Rorr EZ Sigma is quite good. Its wiring is tucked inside body panels, and the bike feels like a product built to last. But, one thing that I personally could have improved was the quality of the switches.

      Oben Rorr EZ Sigma Features

      ★ 8/10

The Oben Rorr EZ Sigma gets an all-LED lighting setup, two USB type-A charging ports in the front lockable storage compartment, among other features.

The Sigma’s highlight is its 5-inch TFT display, which only shows the most crucial readouts. These include readings of the speedometer, odometer, charging, remaining range, riding mode, and a digital clock. The DAS (Driver Assistance System) light is just positioned above the screen, and tells you whether the bike’s motor is engaged or not. The screen is well laid-out and easy to read while riding, and proves to be a strong value addition over the previous models from the brand.

Oben Rorr EZ Sigma Performance & Range

      ★ 10/10

      Motor And Performance

The Oben Rorr EZ Sigma is driven by a mid-mounted electric motor that puts out 7.5 kW of peak power and 277Nm of torque at the rear wheel, same as the Rorr EZ. The claimed 0-40 kmph time of Sigma is around 3.3 seconds.

The Rorr EZ has three ride modes: Eco, City, and Havoc, where you can ride at different top speeds. In Eco mode, the top speed is 40 kmph, in City mode it goes up to 60 kmph, and Havoc is the fastest, where it goes till 95 kmph. In my opinion, this is more than enough performance for traffic commutes, as well as highway riding. Also, for the cons, I think switching between modes could have been more seamless, which would make the riding experience a lot smoother.

      Battery Specifications

The Oben Rorr EZ Sigma is powered by an LFP (Lithium Ferro Phosphate) battery, which is built with MHX (Maximum Heat Exchange) technology. It is available in two IP67 rated battery pack variants: 3.4 kWh, and 4.4 kWh.

      Claimed Range vs Real-world Range

The claimed IDC (Indian Driving Conditions) riding range for the Rorr EZ Sigma is 140km, and 175km. But, in the real-world conditions, expect to get only 100 km, and 140 km from these battery packs. Do note that these range figures might differ due to rider weight and road conditions. So, riders who are a bit lean will get a little more range, and vice versa.

Oben Rorr EZ Sigma Ride & Handling

      ★ 6/10

      Underpinnings

The Oben Rorr EZ Sigma comes with a 37 mm telescopic fork and a 7-step preload-adjustable monoshock absorber suspension setup, which is on-par with modern electric bike standards, atleast on the specsheet. The EZ Sigma gets 17-inch blacked-out alloy wheels, shod with 110-section front and a 130-section rear tubeless rubber, which offers good grip in wet as well as dry road conditions.

      Ride Quality

With this suspension setup, the bike absorbs all the minor undulations with ease. Even over broken patches, the ride quality is decent, at least for our test rider, who weighs 88 kg. But, you will have to slow down for larger potholes and the steep speed bumps common on Indian roads. When compared to its predecessor Rorr EZ, the Sigma feels like a much more well-rounded package. Also, the 200 mm ground clearance comes in handy at the tallest of bumps on India roads where you’ll definitely appreciate it.

      Handling

This is the area where it impressed me the most. Despite being an affordable product, the EZ Sigma with the 17-inch wheels, feels played yet agile, which is actually a compliment. Despite weighing 143 kg, it feels quite manageable, even at low speeds. The wide handlebar also makes it very easy to manoeuvre the bike through tight spots and stop-go traffic. Also for its performance level, the CEAT tyres offer more than enough grip.

      Braking Performance

The bike has disc brakes at both ends with Bybre (By Brembo) callipers. It also comes equipped with a Unified Braking Assist (UBA) system, that distributes the braking force evenly between the wheels, thus preventing wheel slip or wheel locks.

The brakes have decent bite and work well, even in case of emergency braking situations. In my opinion, the braking setup gives the rider decent confidence while riding the bike. But, we think that the addition of atleast a single-channel ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), would have made the bike a lot safer as most city roads are made up of concrete and lack the amount of grip a tar road provides.

      Oben Rorr EZ Sigma Safety

      ★ 6/10

The Oben Rorr EZ Sigma gets a Driver Alert System (DAS) and an Anti-theft function that keeps the rider aware of the bike’s current location through the Oben app. It also gets a regenerative braking system that slows down the bike when you roll off the throttle, thus helping you brake better, all while snatching some of the juice back in the battery from the powertrain.

Oben Rorr EZ Sigma Space & Comfort

      ★ 6/10

      Ergonomics

The bike’s riding position is a bit sportier but it doesn’t interfere with your riding comfort. The handlebar is nice and wide, foot pegs are a little rear-set, and all of this makes for a very confident rider’s triangle. Also, due to the very natural riding position, riders of various heights fit in comfortably on the bike. The seat height is 810 mm, which is a bit tall when compared with most petrol-powered alternatives of the Rorr EZ Sigma, what helps make it accessible is the seat design.

      Rider And Pillion Comfort

The seat is a single-piece unit, and has enough comfort level for daily commutes and occasional long rides. Our test rider, who’s 6 ft tall, found the bike to be quite accommodating rather than cramped. The pillion sits slightly higher than the rider, and is well shaped. The pillion won’t have a problem while commuting in the city, but this seat will definitely give them a hard time when on rides longer than 30-35 minutes.

      Storage And Utility

The bike has two storage spaces: one on the tank and the other below the seat where the charger is stored. The front one is adequate to store daily essentials and also comes with two ports to charge your devices. And, if you don’t carry your charger with you always, the underseat compartment will come in handy and can fit small daily essentials easily.

Oben Rorr EZ Sigma Charging & Warranty

      ★ 6/10

      Charging Options And Time

You can charge the Oben Rorr EZ Sigma with three options: Oben Port, Oben Plug, and Oben Net. The Oben Port is the home charger that can be plugged into any 3-pin socket, and is quite handy for people who have limited parking space. With this option, you’ll need to wait for around 5 hours for a full charge for the mid-spec variant that we tested.

If you have ample parking space, you can get the Oben Plug, which is a wall-mounted fast charger. You can also charge the bike at Oben Net, which is the brand’s authorised charging station network.

      Warranty

You get 3 years, or 40,000km of warranty on the battery and motor. Apart from this you get three extended warrant plans: Charger Protect, T5, and T8 plan.

For the Charger Protect plan, you pay Rs 1,299 for three years of warranty on your charger. If you get the T5 plan, you pay Rs 7,999, and get 5 years or 60,000 km whichever comes first on battery, 5-years of data connectivity, and Lifetime Oben Connect subscription. The T8 plan costs Rs 12,999 and adds 3-years of battery warranty on top of the T5 plans, making the warranty period as 8 years or 80,000 km whichever comes first. Here’s a detailed breakdown for your better understanding:

      Warranty Plan Benefits Price
Charger Protect 3-years warranty on your charger Rs 1.299
      T5
      • 5 years or 60,000 km whichever comes first on Battery
      • 5-years data connectivity
      • Lifetime Oben Connect
      Rs 7,999
      T8
      • 8 years or 80,000 km whichever comes first on Battery
      • 5-years data connectivity
      • Lifetime Oben Connect
      Rs 12,999

(* these are optional accessories and cost extra over the ex-showroom price)

Among all of these plans, we think that the T5 makes the most sense as it gives you the peace of mind, and hassle-free ownership experience without adding too much over your initial purchase cost. But, if you are still skeptical about the bike’s reliability over the longer run, you can go for the T8 warranty plan.
