Kia Syros EV: Overview 

The Kia Syros EV is the brand’s latest entrant into the mass-market electric vehicle segment. While Kia has been offering premium EVs like the EV6 and the EV9, its volume-driving portfolio was still incomplete with only the Carens Clavis EV. With the Syros EV joining the lineup, Kia will cater to the sub-four-metre electric SUV buyers. 

The Syros EV offers two battery pack options carried over from the Clavis EV, with the ace up its sleeve being segment-leading claimed range with the larger battery pack. It has an upright SUV design, and while its price ventures into the more expensive territory of EVs like the Sierra EV, it has a long list of features to back up the price.

Exterior

The Syros EV features an upright SUV silhouette with clean surface lines. The front end uses a closed grille design specific to electric models, paired with vertical LED daytime running lights, multi-focal LED headlights, and low-mounted LED fog lamps.

Key exterior details include:

• Wheels: 16-inch alloy wheels with dual tone design come as standard, while Syros EV variants with larger 51.4 kWh battery get 17-inch alloy wheels.
• Door Handles: Flush-fitting door handles come as standard, however, the powered extension of the handles automatically, happens only on higher variants.
• Lighting: All LED light both at the front and rear. DRLs, high-mounted stop lamp, foig lamps, and even turn signals are all LEDs.
• Roof and Accents: Glossy black roof rails come as standard, alongside a shark fin antenna, and an integrated rear spoiler. HTX and above variants unlock a dual-pane panoramic sunroof.
• Charging and Storage: The charging port is located on the front fender. Under the hood, a front trunk (frunk) with a protective cover provides 16 litres of additional storage space for small items or charging cables.

Interior & Comfort

The upright proportions of the Kia Syros EV, result in a very practical cabin with plenty of room for passengers. Increasing the passenger friendliness, are hots of creature comfort and convenience features.

• Colour Themes: Lower variants feature Cloud Blue and Grey semi-leatherette seats. The HTX+ ER variant upgrades to Onyx Black and Off-White leatherette upholstery, while the top-spec X-Line ER features an Onyx Black and Hunter Green theme.
• Rear Seat Flexibility: HTX variants and above feature a 60:40 split setup for the rear seats. The seas can also be adjusted with sliding and reclining functions. Adding convenience is a centre armrest with retractable cup holders as well as rear door sunshades.
• Seat Ventilation: The HTX+ ER and X-Line ER variants get ventilated front seats along with a rear seat ventilation system. The rear system includes a seat-base only ventilation, allowing cooling air to circulate through the bottom cushions of the back seats.
• Driver Ergonomics: The driver gets a 4-way power-adjustment. Unlike the ICE model, gear selection is handled by a column-mounted shift-by-wire lever behind the steering wheel.
• Cabin Conveniences: Includes a floating central console with a sliding cover, 64-colour ambient mood lighting, LED footwell lamps, rear AC vents, an electric parking brake with auto hold, and power windows with auto up/down safety functions on all doors.

Infotainment & Connectivity

The highlight of the interior dashboard is the 30-inch combined digital panel bringing in three different screens into a single housing.

• Display Setup: The layout consists of a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch central touchscreen, and a 5-inch climate control touchscreen positioned between them.
• Audio and Media: 6-speaker systems including 4 speakers and 2 tweeters come as standard, while the higher trims upgrade to an 8-speaker Harman Kardon setup. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included across all variants.
• Connected Tech: Higher trims include connected car software with over 95 remote features, over-the-air (OTA) system updates, voice recognition, and smartwatch integration.
• Power & Charging Tools: Includes a wireless phone charging pad, multiple C-type USB ports (including a high-output 100W port in the front), paddle shifters to adjust regenerative braking levels, and an internal Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) system that lets passengers power electrical items using the car’s main battery. An NFC-based digital key is also available on the X-Line ER variant.

Safety

Safety equipment on the Syros EV includes a mix of structural protection, driver assistance features, and active electronics.

• Standard Protection: All variants come standard with 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill-start Assist Control (HAC), Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), all-wheel disc brakes, ISOFIX child seat anchors, and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).
• Driver Monitoring and Cameras: Higher trims offer front, side, and rear parking sensors; a 360-degree camera system; a Blind View Monitor that displays side-camera feeds directly in the instrument cluster, and a dual-camera smart dashcam with mobile app recording capabilities. A Virtual Engine Sound System (VESS) is also fitted to emit a low-volume sound at low speeds to alert pedestrians.
• Level 2 ADAS (X-Line ER Only): The top-spec variant adds a camera and radar-based driver assistance suite featuring 16 autonomous functions:
