Between 2026 and 2028, more than 30 new electric scooters are expected in India. Ultraviolette, Yamaha, Vespa, KTM, Hero, Suzuki and TVS are all in the mix, and VinFast is joining too. The lineup runs from budget commuters to premium scooters, with a few concept models that may or may not reach showrooms.

The ones getting the most attention are the Ultraviolette Tesseract, the Yamaha electric scooter, the VinFast Vento S and the TVS M1-S. The Tesseract is first on the calendar. Ultraviolette has it pencilled in for January 2027, at an estimated ₹1.45 lakh. If that timing holds, it will be one of the first new electric scooters to reach showrooms in 2027.

Launching in 2026

As things stand, no upcoming electric scooter has a confirmed 2026 launch. The earliest dates on the list are January and February 2027. Ather Konarc and Simple Wave have both launched recently, and no other electric scooters are currently set to launch in 2026. Dates in this segment tend to shift, so check back as the year closes.

Launching in 2027 and beyond

Ultraviolette and Yamaha lead the 2027 list. The Tesseract is set for January, and Yamaha’s electric scooter is expected in February at an estimated ₹1.6 lakh. VinFast’s Vento S is expected in early 2027 at an estimated ₹1.2 lakh. The TVS M1-S is listed for March 2027 at ₹1.5 to 2 lakh by SearchEV, still shows no price or date for it, so treat that window as tentative.

Several other models have estimated prices but no confirmed date. These include Vespa’s electric scooter (around ₹1.7 lakh), KTM’s electric scooter (around ₹1.5 lakh), Hero’s AE-8 (around ₹70,000) and EeVe’s Forseti (around ₹1 lakh). Their makers haven’t said when they’ll arrive.

Beyond 2027, the picture is thinner. Some concepts, including the Honda Motocompacto, the Husqvarna Vektorr and a few TVS concepts, are still at the show-and-tell stage. Don’t plan a purchase around them yet.

Should you wait?

It depends on the scooter and your timeline.
