- Jaguar Type 01 launched globally
- Is built on Jaguar’s brand-new JEA architecture
- Price of Jaguar Type 01 starts from Rs 2.2 crore (ex-showroom)
Jaguar has finally launched the Type 01 globally, its first ultra-luxury, electric coupe, after postponing the event two times. Its price starts at Rs 2.20 crore and goes up to Rs 2.45 crore (converted from the global price). It is available in two variants: Type 01 (1030 PS) and Design Vision. It is built on the new Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA), which was initially showcased as the Type 00 concept, with deliveries slated for mid-2027. The following is the architectural breakdown of the Jaguar Type 01, exploring exterior and interior elements to understand what makes this production spec unique:
Jaguar Type 01: Exterior Design:
The Fascia:
The Jaguar Type 01 is launched with a new-age design architecture built from the ground up, referring to a clean-sheet approach – the vehicle does not carry typical aerodynamic EV trends like teardrop design elements; instead, it utilises muscular, block-type construction. This includes its long bonnet with sloping and curved edging around the nose for a long stance.
The fascia also discards the utilisation of typical EV-orientated blank-textured grille sections in favour of a more horizontally slatted and closed grille design, with a boxy architecture, featuring ultra-slim LED lighting elements integrated near the upper portions for a muscular appeal. Towards the lower fascia section, there exist active aero-ducts to ensure cooling of elements for aero-efficiency.
The Side Profile:

The side portion is quite clean with smooth construction, hosting door handles, sensors, and cameras, completely integrated with flush bodywork. This section, near the aerodynamic fender architecture, features a brass-like panel that represents what Jaguar calls ‘luxury gap’; it contains Jaguar’s new graphic or emblem. The lengthy construction of the side section, supported by a long bonnet architecture, gives the Jaguar Type 01 a strong appeal.
The split battery pack integration is supported by modules integrated ahead of the A-pillar structure, while other modules are incorporated into the A-pillar, B-pillar, and C-pillar gaps. The integrated modules also represent different functions of the vehicle. In terms of spacing, the long 3.2 metre construction, complemented by a height of 1,400 mm, provides it with a low-slung stance. The 23-inch wheels are mammoth, giving the vehicle a large appearance.
For convenience, both sides of the Jaguar Type 01 feature charging ports so that, regardless of which side the charging infrastructure is available, the vehicle can be plugged in conveniently.
The Rear Section:
The rear profile is enhanced by featuring a minimised conventional glass area with a sleeker digital arrangement. The tail section features a slatted construction with a lighting arrangement that is sleek in appeal. The underbody section features aerodynamic floor elements up to the tail area for airflow management and a low drag coefficient. The overall tail construction provides the Jaguar Type 01 with 450 litres of boot space, which can accommodate decent luggage.
Jaguar Type 01: Interior Design

The interior design architecture shifts away from conventional horizontal construction to a much more symmetrical design with tactile design elements. Inside, the structural spine runs across the entire middle section of the cabin — from the dash to the rear seating arrangement; this adds to its ultra-luxury appeal. Moving away from typical piano black elements, the cabin features artisan textures.
Large display and infotainment systems remain well placed to prevent design clutter, lending the cabin a clean design architecture. A sweeping panoramic glass area is also present, with a central overhead structural beam for reinforcement. What about performance characteristics:
Jaguar Type 01 Performance
| Parameters | Jaguar Type 01 Specifications |
| Powertrain | All-Electric Tri-Motor (AWD) |
| Battery Capacity | 118 kWh NMC |
| Power Output | 1014.38 Bhp (759.24 kW) |
| Torque | 1365 Nm |
| Acceleration (0-100 kmph) | 3.2 Seconds |
| Range Output | 720 Km (WLTP) |
| Charging Speed | 350 kW DC (321 km range in 13 minutes) |
| Rear Wheel Steering | Yes |
| AC Charging Port | Yes |
Providing power is a split battery configuration, supported by a triple electric motor setup, where the vehicle accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in just 3.2 seconds. This means that the vehicle is exceptionally quick, providing similar accelerative performance to that of a 4-door GT.
SearchEV Says
The Jaguar Type 01, to recover from the drying sales outlets, has prioritised a revised design architecture. The Type 01 isn’t simply another Jaguar with an electric powertrain. It’s effectively the product on which Jaguar’s controversial reinvention will be judged. While Jaguar is now identified as a top-tier luxury brand, whether buyers will follow it or not, still remains an important question.
