Charging Infrastructure and Perks
To ease the smooth transition for owners, a complimentary Wall Connector is being offered by Tesla with every purchase of a new Model Y. This home charger enables the customer to install chargers in parking spaces at home so that the external charging station need not be used daily. Tesla’s initial physical presence is concentrated in major metros. The Model Y is featured and test-driven through two Tesla Experience Centres at Mumbai and Delhi, which act as the foremost customer centres for sales and service-related enquiries.
Tesla Supercharger Network Rollout
Simultaneously with deliveries of the vehicle, Tesla is setting up its own charging network. Operational Tesla Charging Stations have been set up in initial cities to support the new vehicles:
- Mumbai (One BKC): Four V4 Superchargers (DC fast charging) and four Destination Chargers (AC charging).
- Delhi (Aerocity): Four V4 Superchargers (DC) and three Destination Chargers (AC).
This two-tiered infrastructure is designed to eliminate customer concerns about range and enhance the overall ownership experience.
Market Impact and Future Outlook
The entry of the Model Y of Tesla, a world-famous and much-demanded model, is expected to reshape the Indian premium EV market. Its presence confirms India as a potential and growing market for advanced electric mobility. This decision to lead a strong product offering, coupled with proprietary charging solutions, is a long-haul commitment for Tesla. It establishes the standard for implementation and infrastructure among all e-vehicle manufacturers within the country.
