Tata Motors is reviving the iconic SUV name with a new electrified version, which will be available later this month. Tata Motors has officially teased the production-ready Sierra EV, which will be introduced on November 25, 2025. The teaser provides an early look at the electric SUV’s design, confirming Tata’s intention to relaunch one of its most iconic vehicles in a modern, zero-emission version.
The Design
According to the preview, the Sierra EV will retain its distinctive boxy shape and wraparound glass design that made the original Sierra a 1990s darling. However, it now has slim LED light bars, a closed front grille with a glossy piano-black finish, and redesigned headlamps paired with sleek DRLs that give it a futuristic look. The SUV is equipped with stunning aerodynamic alloy wheels, and the rear retains the aggressive, upright look that has been synonymous with the Sierra brand. Inside, Tata is likely to provide a premium cabin with 3 digital displays, soft-touch materials, and a minimalist layout inspired by its newest concept interior designs.
Powertrain and Range Expectations
While Tata Motors has officially not revealed the details of the specifications, rumours suggest that the Sierra EV will share components with the Curvv and Harrier EVs. It is expected to get two battery pack options, a 55 kWh to 65 kWh, and a range of 400 to 500 kilometres on a single charge. The Sierra EV is to be built on Tata’s new Acti.EV architecture that enables fast charging and more energy efficiency. The EV will be available in both RWD and AWD variants, aiming to suit the needs of a diverse variety of customers.
Tata’s Electric Vehicle Portfolio
The Sierra EV will be a significant addition to Tata’s growing electric lineups, which now includes the Nexon EV, Punch EV, and Curvv EV. The brand restores the Sierra nameplate by combining nostalgia and innovation. With both ICE and EV options available, the company wants to cater to a wider variety of SUV customers while also boosting its position in the fast-expanding mid-size electric SUV category.
Launch and availability
The brand is preparing to officially debut the Sierra EV on November 25, 2025, at a special event. Pricing, variations, and bookings will all be announced during the launch. Deliveries are planned to start in early 2026. While formal bookings have not yet started, Tata dealerships are expected to start accepting pre-orders shortly following the announcement.
