Kia has officially revealed the EV2, its smallest and most affordable electric SUV so far. This one sits in the B-SUV space and is clearly meant to lower the barrier to EV ownership, especially for customers in Europe who want something compact, practical, and affordable. In Kia’s growing electric lineup, the EV2 slots in below the EV3 and EV4.

Platform and Positioning
The EV2 is built on Kia’s existing electric platform and will be produced in Europe. It utilises a 400 V electrical architecture, which enables fast DC charging and flexible AC charging options.
What this really tells you is Kia isn’t trying to overengineer this car. The focus is on keeping costs in check while still delivering the basics that matter for daily use.
Battery Choices and Range
Kia is keeping things straightforward with two battery options. The standard-range EV2 features a 42.2 kWh battery and is claimed to deliver a WLTP range of up to 317 km. Step up to the long-range version, and you get a 61 kWh battery, with a claimed range of up to 448 km, though final certification is still pending.
Both versions support DC fast charging, with a 10 to 80 per cent charge taking roughly 30 minutes. That’s right in line with what buyers expect in this segment.
Charging Flexibility
One of the more practical highlights is charging support. The EV2 offers both 11 kW and 22 kW AC charging, making it easier to live with, whether you’re charging at home or topping up at a public charger. This is the kind of feature that doesn’t sound exciting on paper but makes a big difference in everyday ownership.
Size and Exterior Design
At around 4,060 mm long, the EV2 stays compact but still carries an upright SUV stance. The design follows Kia’s current styling direction, with sharp lighting signatures and clean surfaces.
Wheel sizes range from 16 to 19 inches, and for customers who want something with a bit more attitude, a GT-Line version will be offered with sportier visual touches.
Interior and Practicality
Inside, the EV2 keeps things minimal and modern. The dashboard uses a triple-screen setup, two 12.3-inch displays paired with a 5.3-inch screen dedicated to climate controls.
Despite its footprint, Kia hasn’t ignored usability. You get sliding and reclining rear seats, a boot that can hold up to 403 litres, and even a small 15-litre front storage compartment. It’s clearly designed for real-world use, not just showroom appeal.
What About India?
The EV2 ticks many of the boxes Indian customers usually care about, including a compact size, SUV styling, and a clear focus on affordability. That said, Kia India hasn’t confirmed any plans to bring it here. If the EV2 were localised and priced aggressively, it could slot neatly into the upcoming wave of compact electric SUVs expected in India, including models being developed by Hyundai. For now, though, it remains a Europe-focused product.
The EV2 isn’t about big power figures or oversized batteries. It’s about making electric SUVs smaller, simpler, and more approachable. In that sense, it feels like a very deliberate step in Kia’s broader EV strategy.
