Ather Rizta, the electric scooter designed for families, launched in April 2024, has recorded sales of over 2 lakh units. It has now become the best-selling electric two-wheeler of Ather Energy; its arrival has greatly impacted the sales mix for Ather. With Rizta as a big volume contributor, Ather is now selling greater volumes of scooters than ever before.
Sales Momentum Accelerates
The rise in sales demonstrates Rizta’s swift acceptance in the market. The initial 1 lakh units were sold within one year of the launch, whereas the next 1 lakh were sold in mere six months (from May 2025 onwards). With sales accelerating, the Rizta now dominates Ather Energy’s portfolio, making up over 70% of its total EV sales.
Expanding Market Reach
The launch of new variants such as the Terracotta Red and the Rizta S model with a 3.7 kWh battery has also greatly contributed to sales growth, driving the momentum.
The Rizta was made to illustrate the mass-market “family scooter” segment. The strategy has been entirely successful in this approach as Ather’s customer base has significantly increased, thus helping the company in penetrating Tier-2 and Tier-3 markets.
Ather Energy’s market share has almost doubled in North and Central India, covering states like Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh (from 7% to 14% in Q1-Q3 FY26), Punjab (from 8% to 15%), and Uttar Pradesh (from 4% to 10%) during the same period.
Practical Design Focus
The Ritza is a huge hit due to its technical and safety features, vital for families who prefer commuting with electric vehicles. With a large, cushioned seat and one of the most spacious floorboards in its segment, the Rizta offers excellent everyday comfort. The Rizta also gets a massive 34 litres of storage under the seat and an optional 22-litre Frunk, giving users a total utility space of 56 litres, which is more than enough.
Technical and Safety Features
The Rizta comes in two variants: Rizta S and Rizta Z. Consumers get the choice between two battery packs: a 2.9 kWh that promises a range of 123 km according to IDC testing, and a 3.7 kWh that gives a certified range of 159 km. Additional smart tech, such as Magic Twist, SkidControl, and Fall Safe, has been implemented to enhance safety.
It also gets connected features like Emergency Stop Signal and the “Ping My Scooter” functionality, which is accessible through the AtherStack Pro pack. The Rizta Z has just been upgraded with a new, 7-inch TFT colour display, and the Ritza S gets a 7-inch Deepview LCD Display.
Retail Network Growth
To handle a huge increase in sales and new market openings, Aether Energy has significantly increased the retail coverage in the entire country. The company has started Experience Centres (ECs), leading to a total of 524 ECs in India by the end of September 2025. This extensive and deep distribution network is not only indispensable for maintaining the electric scooters’ sales but also for making the products widely available to consumers.
