Maruti Suzuki has started dispatching the new electric eVitara fully to different showrooms in India. This development indicates a significant preparatory step before the expected launch of the car in December. eVitara is the first electric vehicle by the company that can be sold on a large scale in India and is aimed directly at the competition with companies like the Hyundai Creta Electric.
Dealer Dispatch Begins
Maruti Suzuki eVitara has started its journey to dealers, thus making it possible for people to take a closer look at the vehicle that has just been exhibited at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo. This electric SUV is pretty important not only as Maruti’s entrance into the EV segment but also because it is being made in India for both domestic and international markets.
Powertrain and Range
The eVitara is offered with a choice of two different powertrains that use Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) batteries. The standard version comes with a 49 kWh battery pack that gives a WLTP-certified range of 346 kilometers with a single-motor configuration. Besides, there is an option of choosing a larger 61 kWh pack that provides a range of up to 428 kilometers. This bigger battery is available for both FWD and possibly 4WD (however, 4WD is not confirmed for India).
Features and Safety
The electric SUV is very well equipped with up-to-date safety and connectivity features. Among the major features are heated front seats, a driver’s 10-way adjustable seat, 7 airbags, a 360-degree camera system, and a wireless charging pad. Most importantly, the eVitara has integrated Level-2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) capabilities that come with the ability to perform some functions automatically.
Interior and Tech
The cabin of the eVitara is adorned with a luxurious dual-tone color scheme. The extraordinary features of technology are the 10.1-inch infotainment screen and a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel. Among the other comfort and style aspects are leatherette upholstery, a newly designed two-spoke steering wheel, and a fixed glass roof to improve the experience of the passengers.
Rivalry in the Segment
The Maruti Suzuki eVitara will be a direct contender in the expanding mid-size electric SUV category. The main rival will be the soon-to-be-launched Hyundai Creta Electric. By introducing the eVitara in December, Maruti intends to grab an early lead in this fierce competition that is going to be the strongest one, and to use the company’s wide sales and service network all over India as support.
