UP EV subsidy ends Oct 13. From Oct 14, only ‘Made in UP’ and registered EVs get the benefit. Policy targets local manufacturing boost.
The Uttar Pradesh government has officially ended its statewide EV subsidy scheme for regular consumers. Starting October 14, 2025, the subsidy will be limited to electric vehicles manufactured and registered in the state. This is a significant shift under the UP EV Manufacturing and Mobility Policy 2022, which aims to increase local production and attract new investment in the EV sector.
Subsidy Period Ends
The one-year “early bird” incentive phase of the UP EV subsidy scheme, introduced on October 14, 2022, will end on October 13, 2025. During this period, all EVs that are registered in the state are eligible for the financial incentive, regardless of their manufacturing facility.
The new phase will, however, be strictly ‘Made in UP’, which already has the ruling to support the local manufacturing ecosystem. The first step of this UP-1 will be a new phase that will begin on October 14, 2025. Under this phase, the purchase subsidy will be limited to EVs that are produced in Uttar Pradesh, sold, and registered in the state.
Why The Change
The new condition is a direct measure to fulfil the state government’s goal of attracting investment and creating jobs in the electric vehicle manufacturing sector. The subsidy offered exclusively to locally produced EVs allows the company to set up the production unit within Uttar Pradesh.
Over time, the subsidies granted through this scheme have helped a lot of people for an extended period. The scheme provided support for the purchase of electric vehicles across a wide range of categories, such as two-wheelers, four-wheelers, e-buses, and e-goods carriers.
Table of Initial Subsidy Benefits (Early Bird Phase)
| Vehicle Segment | Subsidy Limit (Maximum) | Ex-Factory Cost Percentage |
| 2-Wheeler EV | ₹5,000 | 15% |
| 4-Wheeler EV | ₹1,00,000 | 15% |
| E-Buses (Non-Govt) | ₹20,00,000 | 15% |
| E-Goods Carrier | ₹1,00,000 | 10% |
Apply Before Deadline
Customers who have purchased an EV before October 14, 2025, but haven’t applied for the subsidy, it is imperative to submit their application before the early bird phase’s deadline in order to receive their benefits. The subsidy will be provided as a reimbursement credited to the bank account of the registered owner after online verification.
