Electric vehicle sales in India suffered significantly in the month of November 2025, post the end of the festive season. According to data from the Vahan portal, total EV sales in the month stood at 14,691 units, which represents a decline of 23% from the October value of 18,981 units. Despite the decline in volume month-on-month, the segment recorded a strong 77% growth year-on-year. There was a decline in volume sales by the established players, while new entrants such as Vinfast and Tesla saw an overall positive trend.
Top Three Brands
Tata Motors remains in its number one position, though sales volumes plummeted. It has sold a total of 6,083 units in November, a decrease from 7,596 in October, translating to a 20% MoM drop. However, Tata maintains a commanding 42.5% market share. Currently, market analysts are on the lookout to see how the pricing strategy would pan out for the new Sierra EV that is to be launched after the classic ICE version.
MG Motors retained its second spot. The recent milestone achieved is 50,000 units of the Windsor EV sold after 400 days. Last month, MG produced 3,557 units, compared with 4,778 units in October, a 26% decline in volume. Market share is now at 24.8%.
Mahindra stands third, with 19.3% market share. Sales recorded a drop from 3,989 units in October to only 2,767 units in November, representing a decrease of 31%. The brand is banking on its 9E and BE 6 models, with the new XEV 9S coming up to further increase the numbers in the future.
Mid Market Drop
Kia India ranks in fourth position, though registration was poor. Sales of Kia have decreased to 463 units as the Carens EV is being made available for customers in November, as compared to 675 in the month before. This translates into a drop of 31%, putting the company at 3.2% market share.
BYD stands fifth in the queue. Sales fell to 417 from 598 in October. The 30% fall symbolically directed the indications of buyers returning to normal as sales returned to average revisit, following the festive spike. By now, BYD has captured up to 2.9% of the market share.
Hyundai Motors comes in sixth place, with 370 units sold in November, compared to 471 in October. This amounts to a 21% decrease with a market share of 2.6%. After the perceived initial period of launch of the Creta EV, sales have been very moderate.
Luxury and Newcomers
On the seventh level, Vinfast outperformed BMW by pulling back the previous position of the latter brand. The brand sold 287 units in November, growing from 135 in October. It achieved a massive 113% growth and has a 2% market share, courtesy of aggressive pricing and features.
BMW slipped again to an eighth position. The luxury brand sold 267 units, changing from 331 units in October. This is a 19% decline and results in a 1.9% market share.
Mercedes-Benz remains at number nine. The maker of the EQS SUV recorded a sales drop to 69 units as compared with 94 units sold in October. This is a 27% decline and 0.5% market share.
Tesla India re-enters the list against Stellantis (Citroen eC3) with 48 units sold by Tesla in November and 40 units in October, representing a 20% growth. The company, which has only 0.3% market share, is concentrating on developing its infrastructure setup, which includes a new experience centre in Gurugram.
