Tata Motors is preparing to enter the luxury electric vehicle space with the Avinya EV, which is now confirmed for an India launch in late 2026. First showcased as a concept earlier this year, the Avinya will become Tata’s most premium electric SUV, offering a long driving range, advanced technology, and a fresh design approach. This model also signals Tata’s larger shift toward cleaner and more premium electric mobility.
New Cabin Tech
The Avinya’s cabin is designed to feel more like a lounge than a car. Instead of cluttering the dashboard with massive screens, Tata used a voice-activated system to handle most of the controls. This keeps the look clean and simple. They’ve also used sustainable materials inside the cabin and swivel seats that can rotate, allowing passengers to face each other when the car isn’t moving.
Fast Charging Battery
Under the floor sits a powerful battery built on the new Gen-3 platform. Tata says this electric setup should give the EV a range of more than 500 km on one full charge. That’s enough to handle a long road trip without constant stopping. When you do need to stop, the fast-charging tech can add enough power for a 500 km journey in about 30 minutes at a high-speed plug-in station.
Unique Exterior Style
The EV doesn’t look like a typical SUV or a sedan; it’s a bit of both. It has a very long wheelbase, which means there is a lot of room inside, and the “Butterfly” doors open wide to make getting in and out much easier. A thin LED light strip runs across the front and back in a “T” shape to show off the Tata logo in the dark.

Future Model Expansion
The Avinya is not just a single model; it marks the beginning of Tata’s new luxury family of electric vehicles. Tata is using technology from Jaguar Land Rover to build these, including a smart system that lets the car update its own software over the air. The plan is to have five different battery-operated models ready by 2030 to compete with other global luxury brands.
New Sales Strategy
Since this is a premium car, you won’t find it in your local Tata dealership. The company is setting up special showrooms specifically for these electric models to provide customers with a more high-end experience. This is all part of Tata’s bigger “Beyond100” plan to become a fully zero-emission brand by 2045.
