Ola Electric Technologies Pvt Ltd continues to suffer pressure in India’s electric two-wheeler sector, with early 2026 registrations showing a slow start to the year. The company reported 7,365 units in January and 2,654 units through mid-February, bringing its year-to-date total to 10,019 units.
The subdued momentum follows a weak close to 2025, when Ola Electric slipped to sixth position in November after registering 8,190 units, which is one of its lowest monthly performances of the year.
2025 Performance Analysis
Ola’s 2025 sales report shows tremendous fluctuation during the year. The company started strong with 23,778 units in January and recovered to 22,760 units in March following a slow February (8,237 units), when reported registration backlogs impacted visible VAHAN figures. Sales were mostly steady between April and August, averaging roughly 18,000 units per month, before slowing again in September. November was one of the lowest points of the year, with 8,190 units, with a modest recovery to 8,615 units in December.
The late-year fall coincided with a broader downturn in the electric two-wheeler market following October’s festive season boost, as well as increased competition from legacy manufacturers with larger dealer and service networks. Earlier this year, conflicts between internal dispatches and registration data contributed to the variability in reported monthly results. Despite the variations, the company ended 2025 with a total of 1,91,990 registrations.
Competitive pressure intensifies
While Ola Electric’s early-year momentum helped it create a strong presence in the segment, established manufacturers finally gained traction in the electric scooter market. TVS Motor Company, Bajaj Auto, Ather Energy, and Hero MotoCorp increased their EV portfolios and strengthened retail networks, changing monthly rankings in the second half of 2025.
Industry data indicates that the overall E2W segment also faced pressure in November, but Ola’s drop to 8,190 units pushed it down to sixth position for the month.
Early 2026 Sales Show a Slow Start.
Ola Electric Technologies Pvt Ltd has had a quiet start to 2026. The company reported:
- January – 7,365 units
- February – 2,654 units
The year-to-date total is 10,019 units. The early trend indicates that competitive pressure will persist in the electric two-wheeler industry, even as established manufacturers expand their retail and service networks.
Outlook
Despite the late-year downturn, Ola Electric is one of India’s leading electric two-wheeler manufacturers by annual volume, with about 1.92 lakh registrations as of 2025. In 2026, whether the company can recapture its previous momentum will depend on demand revival, network development, and its competitive position.
