Production Challenges
Maruti Suzuki lowered its initial e-Vitara manufacturing target earlier this year. From April to September, the company reduced output from approximately 26,500 units to 8,200 units due to rare-earth supply shortages. However, the manufacturer stated that the launch date will remain unchanged, with production set to begin later this year.
Strategic Move
Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara will be the brand’s first fully electric SUV, and this EV marks a significant milestone in its electric vehicle lineup. The Gujarat plant will be utilised as both a domestic manufacturing location and an export unit. This helps the company to boost its presence in the EV industry both domestically and internationally.
