Ather to Launch New “EL” Platform For their Electric Scooter on August 30th

Ather has announced that it would launch its new “EL” electric scooter platform on August 30th at the Ather Community Day in Bengaluru. This launch marks a significant turning point for Ather, who want to establish and broaden its electric vehicle lineup beyond luxury models.
The teaser silhouette gives hints that this EV could be a family-friendly scooter, but it lacks finer details. A long, wide seat, a rectangular headlamp housing, a chunky front apron, and a traditional fender design are all expected features. Most likely, there will be a storage space under the seat and at the front, and a flat floorboard is big enough for daily use.
Ather’s New Direction
The EL platform is built to provide the Indian customers with an affordable and customizable scooter for their daily use. Unlike the more expensive Ather 450 series, the EV developed on these platforms will prioritize cost-effectiveness while keeping essential features like the Ather Stack system and the same battery pack option.
Pricing and Market Positioning
The new EL scooter is expected to come with a price range of Rs 1 lakh and is going to compete with Ola, TVS iQube, Hero Vida, and Bajaj Chetak. The EL platform scooters will be manufactured in the company’s new plant in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad) starting in early 2026. Along with the scooter, Ather will demonstrate concept models based on the new architecture, providing insight into the company’s future product plan.
Tech announcements
In addition to the announcement, Ather plans to use the event to unveil the latest Ather Stack 7.0 software update, which aims to improve speed, connectivity, and overall user experience, as well as faster charging options.
With the latest EL platform, the brand will launch more affordable electric scooters, growing beyond its premium image. If priced rightly, the EL platform might benefit the brand by building customers and increasing visibility in India’s booming EV industry.
