Ather Energy has grown its service network to 500 centres across India, almost doubling it within FY26. At the start of the year, the company had 277 centres, so this is a pretty significant jump in a short span. What’s interesting here is the way Ather has gone about it. They haven’t treated service like something to fix later. Instead, they’ve been growing it at the same pace as their retail network. That matters because in this space, good after-sales support often ends up being the deciding factor for buyers.
Stronger Reach Across Cities
The new service centres are spread across metro cities, smaller towns, and emerging markets. In simple terms, wherever Ather sells its scooters, it’s trying to make sure there’s service support nearby too. This matters because one of the biggest concerns for EV buyers is still service accessibility. Unlike petrol vehicles, where service centres are everywhere, EV infrastructure is still catching up. Reducing the distance to a service centre makes ownership a lot less stressful.
Different Levels of Service
Ather hasn’t kept all service centres the same. Some locations are set up as Gold Service Centres, which come with better facilities, more advanced equipment, and a more organised customer experience. Then there’s ExpressCare, available at select centres, where routine servicing is done in about an hour. It’s clearly inspired by the quick-service formats people are already used to with petrol vehicles, just adapted for EVs.
Ather’s expansion is not occurring in isolation; the company is actively increasing its retail presence as well. By December 2025, Ather had approximately 600 Experience Centres and aims to have 700 by the end of FY26. The rationale is simple: there’s no benefit in selling more vehicles if the service support does not keep pace.
What’s Driving Demand
On the product side, Ather now caters to a wider set of buyers. The Ather 450 series continues to appeal to those looking for performance, while the Rizta focuses more on comfort and everyday practicality. Together, they help the brand reach both individual riders and families.
Service is just one part of the picture. Ather is also continuing to build its charging network. The Ather Grid now includes over 4,300 fast-charging points and neighbourhood chargers. For many users, this network plays a big role in making EVs easier to live with daily.
Why This Matters
As more people begin to consider electric vehicles (EVs), they are looking beyond just factors like price and range. What truly matters is how easy it is to live with the car after purchase. This is where Ather seems to be focusing its efforts, ensuring that owners receive proper support when they need it, rather than leaving them to figure things out on their own later. In fact, the level of support and service can be just as important as the scooter itself.
